Man dies, 130 injured in Jordan clashes

AMMAN, Jordan (AFP) – A man died and 130 people were injured on Friday as pro-reform protesters and government supporters clashed in Amman, prompting police to use water cannons to disperse them.

“Khairy Saad Jamil, 55, died today at the Prince Hamzeh Hospital” in Amman, a medical source told AFP without specifying the cause of death.

It was the first death since the outbreak of pro-reform protests in Jordan three months ago.

Another medical source said 130 people, including a policeman, were injured in the clashes. “Two of them are in critical condition,” he said.

An AFP journalist at the scene said police used water cannons to break up clashes between students protesting to demand reforms and government supporters.

Anti-riot police also broke up a protest camp for the students and arrested several of them, a security official told AFP.

The clashes erupted after around 200 government supporters hurled large stones at more than 2,000 young demonstrators from different movements, including the powerful Islamist opposition, urging regime reforms and more efforts to fight corruption, an AFP journalist reported.

Spots of blood marked the location of the demonstration next to Amman’s Interior Circle, or Gamal Abdel Nasser Square.

On Thursday night, government supporters attacked the young protesters with stones, injuring at least 30 people.

The demonstrators had complained that “our gathering is peaceful, but this did not prevent the attacks”.

“Does the king agree with such actions? We are Jordanians and we have the right to express ourselves,” said Reda Darwish, 20.

At nightfall on Thursday, police attempted to disperse the youths, cutting off electricity to the square around 11:00 pm, an AFP journalist witnessed.

Protesters said around 50 “loyalists” attacked them with rocks after the power supply was lost, adding that police who surrounded the scene did not intervene.

“We hold the interior minister responsible for this incident and we call on the king and the people to protect us from these thugs who are attacking us,” said Nihad Zuhair, another protester.

The students want corrupt officials to be put on trial and security services to stop interfering in their affairs.

“The revolution is happening all around us,” they shouted. “Jordan, your turn is coming.”

“We want constitutional amendments to have parliamentary governments,” said Alaa Fazaa of the Jayeen (We are Coming) group, adding the protests would go on until their demands were met.

The protesters, including some expatriates, have created “committees” to clean up the location and provide food, water and beverages as well as medical care to each other.

“I am here today to express solidarity with the Jordanian people and back democracy and justice,” Lise Olivarius, 25, of the ActionAid international charity, told AFP.

Since January, left-wing activists have joined forces with nationalists and the Islamist opposition in calling for far-reaching political reforms and an end to what they say is rampant corruption.

More than 200 supporters of the Islamist movement and other groups demonstrated after Friday midday prayers near the Israeli embassy to push reforms and mark the 43rd anniversary of the Battle of Karameh with Israel.

“The government and the regime should realise that time is not on their side and it is on the country’s side,” Said Diab, leader of the Jordanian Popular Unity Party, told AFP as the protesters called for the expulsion of Israel’s ambassador to Amman.

Elsewhere, thousands gathered in Al-Hussein Gardens west of Amman to express loyalty and allegiance to the king, dancing to national songs and waving large national flags and pictures of the monarch.

The Other Opinion we Need you all to consider !!

The Other Opinion

First: to all brothers in the Arab countries … it is impossible to judge if you

are not living the situation … so don’t take positions without knowing the

circumstances of this protest, which is not a revolution, as it reflects a

group of people in Bahrain and not all the people of Bahrain…

Second: “The revolution of the Egyptian youth” was a revolution of youth

with personal opinions, which was not influenced by any party (as opposed

to what’s happening in Bahrain. The opposition is divided into several

entities, each with demands ranging in intensity between the request of

the fall of the Kingdom and calling for a Republic and the claim for reforms

in the politics of Bahrain). Whoever looks deeply into those demands, will

find out how they are changing every now and then, with the opposition

requesting for higher demands.

Third: the disappearance of security in Bahrain. I was continuously

following the Egyptian Revolution and I did not see the Egyptian youth

attacking policemen, blocking streets, calling for civil strikes or causing

chaos in schools and universities. None of them went to the areas of

supporters of the Government system (that is if there were a few of them)

with the intention of provocation!! Let us not forget that for every action

there is a reaction, so it is illogical to play with fire and then blame the fire

for any burns!

Fourth: It is true that the revolution in Egypt affected the tourism sector

in the country, as in Bahrain!! But the paradox here is that protestors

completely refuse the presence of any foreigner in Bahrain, whether for

business or tourism. They intimidate and even attack them, which lead

to the death of one resident yesterday just for being a foreigner!! Didn’t

he have a soul? Doesn’t he have any family? My religion is Islam, which

states that any spirit is created by God, which does not deserve to be killed

without reason! Imagine my fellow Egyptians, Libyans, Tunisian, or other

nationalities to be in a state in which a so called revolution takes place

and you are the one who’s killed intentionally because your roots doesn’t

belong to that country with a view!! What is your reaction!

This protest started illegally. Yes, the protestors did not get an approval

from the Ministry of Interior Affairs as required by law. Yes, they started

the demonstration using Molotov bombs against the police from the first

day. There were casualties. Isn’t there a reaction for every action? Were

they expecting the policemen to stand still in front of those people?

Fifth: Look at the history of these protestors and their violation of human

rights and national identity by burning some Asians in a restaurant, burning

a police car with a policeman inside. Didn’t they continue burning tires

since the nineties to this day? How do you want to police not to take action

when their lives were threatened??? They will say: what about the souls

of the protestors??? Whoever declares that he wants to die and follow

what is being said to him that this process is martyrdom let him accept the

Six: When this started, which was allowed by the Crown Prince, to protest

in one of the most important and vital areas with demands of living and

on top of the list was “Naturalization”?? Where is our Islam and our

religion from all this??? Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) that there is

no difference between anyone Arab and non-Arab, white or black, but

by piety. If they do not want these newly naturalized and who proved

that they are grateful and who have maintained the safety and security

throughout the years, then the naturalization of everyone should be

canceled including those who got their nationalities in the fifties, who

immigrated from the villages of Iraq, and some families from Iran and those

who do not know any other land but Bahrain! Will they agree to that?

Seven: Where are the peaceful aspects of their case??? Where is the whole

case?? Wasn’t it an issue of poverty?? Wasn’t it an issue of martyrs?? Go

and see how they turned the GCC roundabout to a “Carnival”??? Sheesha,

food and fun all night!!! Are those people supporting a read cause??? They

didn’t stop there, they even acted as policemen and appointed some of

them at some inspection points searching anyone they desire!!! That’s

not all, they even blocked the streets and open them as they wish!!!! They

didn’t stop there!!! They arranged daily marches that disturbed the traffic

and disrupted the security of the majority of the people who reject the

manifestations of this protest!!! Don’t we have the right to demand for

our freedom, security and safety??? Or the claims are exclusive to them??

Please pay very close attention, we saw the demands from the beginning

and we do not deny that we agreed with some of them … but the quick

escalation that took place in Bahrain’s crisis, showed the hidden intentions.

How can the claims for housing and increase the standard of living change

to the fall of the Government system? This was also demanded through

illegitimate ways. Whoever follows the events will notice the distortion and

lies, partial facts and invasion of the Central Hospital of Bahrain with news

broadcasts from inside the hospital!! Did any of those unethical actions

took place in Egypt or Tunisia? Did any doctor or teacher violate their oath?

Wouldn’t this destroy the country!!

Eight: They went to extremes when they declared the civil disobedience

by not going to schools for teaching, by exclusively providing only the

roundabout people with hospital treatment, by protesting in schools and

kindergartens forcing the kids to shout with slogans they don’t know it’s

alphabetic??? Isn’t it a violation of kids’ rights??? Isn’t it a shame to violate

the sanctity of girls in schools??? Isn’t it a disgrace to violate the sanctity

of the university campus??? Isn’t forcing people to do what they –this

troop- want, a violation of people’s rights??? They –this troop- force us

not to reach work!!! They force us to remain at home! They stole security

and stability for the sake of illusive demands they didn’t even write in an

official declaration!!! What are these demands that make them get out in

rallies seeking the death of the King; disregarding our feelings??? Where

are the legitimate demands??? Excuse me .. there is no way to convince

a sane-man that what this minority troop do is an act of people who love

their country!!! Regardless of all that, their teasing and provocative acts

during the previous period forced us to make civil committees to protect

our dignity and preserve the security in our areas!! Is this fair???

Nine: They want Bahrain to be an elective republic??? Where is their

historical and political education and knowledge??? Didn’t they accept

to pledge allegiance to the king in the year 2001 with a percentage

of 98.4%??? They can’t deny the legitimate measures taken in the

parliamentary council where they are presented by “Ali Salman”; the

chameleon, who didn’t present a single complete file for an issue and

suggestions to change legislations and rules along his membership

period!!! Who among them has an experience to manage a country???

The GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) economy is connected and Bahrain’s

economy depends on Abu Sa’fah oil well which is owned by Kingdom of

Saudi Arabia to whom we are thankful as it provides us with 80% of this

well’s production! Do they –the opposition- think that if they get the

governance the kingdom, Saudi Arabia would continue to finance Bahrain

with these incomes?? Do you know why it wouldn’t??? Because they are

Iran’s allies!! All their masks have fallen and their intentions have been

revealed!!! We have said our word in the gathering of national unity -and

I didn’t see any neutral TV channel showing this first unique gathering- we

don’t want to be a governorate following Iran!!! And for your information,

we represent a nation and they represent a sect in this nation and if they

want to coexist they have to undergo the demands of the majority and if

they don’t like the regime in Bahrain, then let them choose wherever they

want of God’s large land!!!

Ten: The Peninsula Shield is the only solution to deal with whoever lives a

wildly life which lacks rules; pretending that this way of life is the

freedom!!!! Yes, we don’t want things to reach this far, but who wreaked

havoc in the land, and demanded things that don’t present the whole

nation’s will? Who stole our freedom? Who occupied areas of Bahrain and

forced his own rules? Who doesn’t want peace? Who didn’t listen to the

voice of intellect when the crown prince ordered for calmness and asked

for dialogue that has no roof??? Who continued performing, putting

himself at risk; ignoring all the warnings that the security forces want to

preserve order??? Who attacked the unarmed policemen??? After all that,

they don’t want injuries??? Just to let you know, the procedures taken by

the Kingdom of Bahrain are not so different from those taken by most

developed democratic countries. Did you forget the students’

demonstrations in the United Kingdom?? You blame us for seeking help

from The Peninsula Shield???? And when we use our interior forces, they

throw themselves into doom and show those video tapes in other satellite

channels!!! And to all those who said that The Peninsula Shield Forces are

Foreign Forces, did you forget that we are part of the GCC (Gulf

Cooperation Council)?? Did you forget the famous slogan “our Gulf is one,

and our fate is one”?? Why they didn’t say so when the forces were

involved in liberating Kuwait??? Originally, there are deals ruled by the

union of GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) and these deals and contracts are

internationally acknowledged, thus these forces are national forces not

foreigners!!! For those who said why the military wasn’t sent to defend

Palestine, I reply and say why those protestors who seek martyrdom didn’t

go to defend Palestine????

i request any one who is interested in helping the Opressed Bahraini (sunnis are SUffering more , cant tell u how much the expats are suffering here )please come to bahrain and Talk to both sides … this request is for human rights alone and not the armies or nato (we want them to stay out of our lives we have seen them cause destruction !! and dont want it in our country !! There are only 14 million Jews in the world; seven million in the Americas, five million in Asia, two million in Europe and 100,000 in Africa. For every single Jew in the world there are 100 Muslims. Yet, Jews are more than a hundred times more powerful than all the Muslims put together.

Ever wondered why?

Albert Einstein, the most influential scientist of all time and TIME magazine’s ‘Person of the Century’, was a Jew. Sigmund Freud — id, ego, superego — the father of psychoanalysis was a Jew. So were Karl Marx, Paul Samuelson and Milton Friedman and the list goes on.

Here are a few other Jews whose intellectual output has enriched the whole humanity: Benjamin Rubin gave humanity the vaccinating needle. Jonas Salk developed the first polio vaccine. Alert Sabin developed the improved live polio vaccine. Gertrude Elion gave us a leukaemia fighting drug. Baruch Blumberg developed the vaccination for Hepatitis B. Paul Ehrlich discovered a treatment for syphilis (a sexually transmitted disease). Elie Metchnikoff won a Nobel Prize in infectious diseases and the list goes on.

Bernard Katz won a Nobel Prize in neuromuscular transmission. Andrew Schally won a Nobel in endocrinology (disorders of the endocrine system; diabetes, hyperthyroidism). Aaron Beck founded Cognitive Therapy (psychotherapy to treat mental disorders, depression and phobias). Gregory Pincus developed the first oral contraceptive pill. George Wald won a Nobel for furthering our understanding of the human eye. Stanley Cohen won a Nobel in embryology (study of embryos and their development). Willem Kolff came up with the kidney dialysis machine and the list goes on.

Over the past 105 years, 14 million Jews have won 15-dozen Nobel Prizes ( >180) while only three Nobel Prizes (2 for literature) have been won by 1.4 billion Muslims (other than Peace Prizes).

Why are Jews so powerful?

Stanley Mezor invented the first micro-processing chip. Leo Szilard developed the first nuclear chain reactor. Peter Schultz, optical fibre cable; Charles Adler, traffic lights; Benno Strauss, Stainless steel; Isador Kisee, sound movies; Emile Berliner, telephone microphone and Charles Ginsburg, videotape recorder and the list goes on.

Famous financiers in the business world who belong to Jewish faith include Ralph Lauren (Polo), Levis Strauss (Levi’s Jeans), Howard Schultz (Starbuck’s), Sergey Brin (Google), Michael Dell (Dell Computers), Larry Ellison (Oracle), Donna Karan (DKNY), Irv Robbins (Baskins & Robbins) and Bill Rosenberg (Dunkin Donuts) and the list goes on.

Richard Levin, President of Yale University, is a Jew. So are Henry Kissinger (American secretary of state), Alan Greenspan (fed chairman under Reagan, Bush, Clinton and Bush), Joseph Lieberman, Madeleine Albright (American secretary of state), Casper Weinberger (American secretary of defence), Maxim Litvinov (USSR foreign Minister), David Marshal (Singapore’s first chief minister), Issac Isaacs (governor-general of Australia), Benjamin Disraeli (British statesman and author), Yevgeny Primakov (Russian PM), Barry Goldwater, Jorge Sampaio (president of Portugal), John Deutsch (CIA director), Herb Gray (Canadian deputy PM), Pierre Mendes (French PM), Michael Howard (British home secretary), Bruno Kreisky (chancellor of Austria) and Robert Rubin (American secretary of treasury) and the list goes on.

In the media, famous Jews include Wolf Blitzer (CNN), Barbara Walters (ABC News), Eugene Meyer (Washington Post), Henry Grunwald (editor-in-chief Time), Katherine Graham (publisher of The Washington Post), Joseph Lelyyeld (Executive editor, The New York Times), and Max Frankel (New York Times), and the list goes on.

Can you name the most beneficent philanthropist in the history of the world? The name is George Soros, a Jew, who has so far donated a colossal $4 billion most of which has gone as aid to scientists and universities around the world. Second to George Soros is Walter Annenberg, another Jew, who has built a hundred libraries by donating an estimated $2 billion.

At the Olympics, Mark Spitz set a record of sorts by wining seven gold medals. Lenny Krayzelburg is a three-time Olympic gold medalist. Spitz, Krayzelburg and Boris Becker are all Jewish and ….

Did you know that Harrison Ford, George Burns, Tony Curtis, Charles Bronson, Sandra Bullock, Billy Crystal, Woody Allen, Paul Newman, Peter Sellers, Dustin Hoffman, Michael Douglas, Ben Kingsley, Kirk Douglas, Goldie Hawn, Cary Grant, William Shatner, Jerry Lewis and Peter Falk (the list goes on) are all Jewish? As a matter of fact, Hollywood itself was founded by a Jew (more than one , Metro, Goldwyn Mayer are examples). Among directors and producers, Steven Spielberg, Mel Brooks, Oliver Stone, Aaron Spelling (Beverly Hills 90210), Neil Simon (The Odd Couple), Andrew Vaina (Rambo 1/2/3), Michael Man (Starsky and Hutch), Milos Forman (One flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest), Douglas Fairbanks (The thief of Baghdad) and Ivan Reitman (Ghostbusters) are all Jewish and …..

To be certain, Washington is the capital that matters and in Washington the lobby that matters is The American Israel Public Affairs Committee, or AIPAC. Washington knows that if PM Ehud Olmert were to discover that the earth is flat, AIPAC will make the 109th Congress pass a resolution congratulating Olmert on his discovery.

William James Sidis, with an IQ of 250-300, is the brightest human who ever existed. Guess what faith did he belong to?

Question: So, why are Jews so powerful?

Answer: Education.

Why are Muslims so powerless?

There are an estimated 1,476,233,470 Muslims on the face of the planet; one billion in Asia, 400 million in Africa, 44 million in Europe and six million in the Americas. Every fifth human being is a Muslim; for every single Hindu there are two Muslims, for every Buddhist there are two Muslims and for every Jew there are one hundred Muslims. Ever wondered why Muslims are so powerless.

Here is why: There are 57 member-countries of the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC), and all of them put together have around 500 universities; one university for every three million Muslims. The United States has 5,758 universities and India has 8,407. In 2004, Shanghai Jiao Tong University compiled an ‘Academic Ranking of World Universities’, and intriguingly, not one university from Muslim-majority states was in the top-500.

As per data collected by the UNDP, literacy in the Christian world stands at nearly 90 per cent and 15 Christian-majority states have a literacy rate of 100 per cent. A Muslim-majority state, as a sharp contrast, has an average literacy rate of around 40 per cent and there is no Muslim-majority state with a literacy rate of 100 per cent. Some 98 per cent of the ‘literates’ in the Christian world had completed primary school, while less than 50 per cent of the ‘literates’ in the Muslim world completed primary school did the same. Around 40 per cent of the ‘literates’ in the Christian world attended university while no more than two per cent of the ‘literates’ in the Muslim world attended university did the same.

Muslim-majority countries have 230 scientists per one million Muslims. The US has 4,000 scientists per million and Japan has 5,000 per million. In the entire Arab world, the total number of full-time researchers is 35,000 and there are only 50 technicians per one million Arabs (in the Christian world there are up to 1,000 technicians per one million). Furthermore, the Muslim world spends 0.2 per cent of its GDP on research and development, while the Christian world spends around five per cent of its GDP.

Conclusion: The Muslim world lacks the capacity to produce knowledge.

Daily newspapers per 1,000 people and number of book titles per million are two indicators of whether knowledge is being diffused in a society. In Pakistan, there are 23 daily newspapers per 1,000 Pakistanis (they are the ones that want to reinstate the law to persecute a ‘raped’ women for adultary) while the same ratio in Singapore is 360. In the UK, the number of book titles per million stands at 2,000 while the same in Egypt is 20.

Conclusion: The Muslim world is failing to diffuse knowledge.

Exports of high technology products as a percentage of total exports are an important indicator of knowledge application. Pakistan’s exports of high technology products as a percentage of total exports stands at one per cent. The same for Saudi Arabia is 0.3 per cent; Kuwait, Morocco, and Algeria are all at 0.3 per cent while Singapore is at 58 per cent.

Conclusion: The Muslim world is failing to apply knowledge.

Why are Muslims powerless? Because we aren’t producing knowledge.

Why are Muslims powerless? Because we aren’t diffusing knowledge.

Why are Muslims powerless? Because we aren’t applying knowledge.

And, the future belongs to knowledge-based societies.

Interestingly, the combined TOTAL annual GDP of 57 OIC-countries is under $2 trillion. America, just by herself, produces goods and services worth $12 trillion; China $8 trillion, Japan $3.8 trillion and Germany $2.4 trillion (purchasing power parity basis).

Oil rich Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait and Qatar collectively produce goods and services (mostly oil) worth $500 billion; Spain alone produces goods and services worth over $1 trillion, Catholic Poland $489 billion and Buddhist Thailand $545 billion (Muslim GDP as a percentage of world GDP is fast declining).

So, why are Muslims so powerless?

Answer: Lack of education.

Israel tells Facebook: Remove Intifada page

Minister Edelstein sends letter to Mark Zuckerberg requesting shutdown of Facebook group calling for third intifada, violent uprising against Israel in May

Elior Levy

A month after the launch of a Facebook group calling for a third Intifada, Minister of Diplomacy and Diaspora Affairs Yuli Edelstein sent a letter to Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg Wednesday, demanding that the page calling a Palestinian uprising be shut down immediately.

Facebook protest: ‘Free Palestine’ on NIS / Elior Levy
Facebook group calls on members to promote peaceful protest by writing ‘Free Palestine’ on all forms of Israeli currency. Founders hope Netanyahu ‘gets the message’
Full Story

The Facebook group was launched less than a month ago with the number of members growing dramatically, with nearly 250,000 people expressing support for launching a third Intifada on May 15, marked by Arabs as Nakba Day – a day where Palestinians mark the “catastrophe of Israel’s establishment.”

The founders of the Facebook group claim that they got the idea for the page from the recent uprisings throughout the Middle East that led to the ousting of the Tunisian and Egyptian leaders and the fall of their regimes.

There is no need to explain what the outrageous incitement on the page in question can cause – from harming innocent Jews and Israelis and through to an armed struggle against Israel, Minister Edelstein wrote in a letter to the founder of the popular social network.

Group’s goal: Israel’s downfall

In his letter, Edelstein stressed that he wasn’t writing in his official capacity but as someone who shares the values of freedom of expression, and said he believed that there must be a discernable difference between freedom of expression and freedom to incite.

The founders of the group hope that a popular uprising like those that broke out in the Arab world would also bring about the downfall of the State of Israel, with the help of groups supporters in the Palestinian Authority and countries bordering on Israel.

Muslim boycott

The group’s doctrines include a call for simultaneous protests on the Jordanian, Egyptian and Syrian borders while Palestinians from the West Bank and Gaza will launch attacks on Israeli settlements. Moreover, they ask for “the help of our brothers in Lebanon” who will assist by raining missiles down on Israel.

Since its launch, the Facebook group has received a great deal of coverage in the Palestinian and Arab media. Its founders, who remain anonymous, warned Facebook that shutting down their page would lead the Muslim world to boycott Facebook.

It seems that the threat did little to impress the site managers as one of the group’s founders who calls himself “Son of Palestine” reported calls for violence.

Son of Palestine also accused Facebook’s management team of forging the number of supporters the group has, claiming that the number is much higher than 250,000.

Israel is Playing with Fire

It looks as though Israel has decided to take the initiative to stop any initiatives to reach a Palestinian national unity. Image First, the Israeli government continues to shrug off external pressure to end the imposed siege on Gaza, which has entered its fifth year. Second, it continues to slight the new Arab democracies, especially the Egyptian one. Finally, it continues to block the road to an imminent Palestinian state, which could be accomplished by September.

Israel’s latest military escalation on Gaza is a clear indication of its intention to escape all commitments and once again cast itself in the role of the victim, accumulating solidarity from foreign nation—something that we grew sick of a long time ago. Israel knows that whenever they kill people in Gaza, as they have in the past few days, unrest will not settle down any time soon. And it is certain that the ensuing escalation only benefits Israel.

The Jerusalem bombing, in which a bomb was left at a bus stop in West Jerusalem, killed one and injured 30. I have no doubt that Israel did this. There is no evidence that Palestinians perpetrated the attack. The attack had no repercussions; the army didn’t even impose a blockade on the West Bank and we haven’t seen Israeli countermeasures common to every Palestinian attack. The government’s attempts to use Itamar attack—in which a family of five settlers were killed by an unknown assailant—as a weapon to attack Palestine and its leaders has been unsuccessful, simply because there is no decisive evidence who carried out the murders.

The Israeli public should be aware of what their government is doing, and in which direction it is heading. The public should know that this will not end the international pressure on Israel to end its occupation, nor will it jam Palestinian reconciliation for very long. Considering what is it planning to do, this government might lead to things that no Israeli citizen wants, especially in light of the rabid changes sweeping the region, which has a clear impact on Israel’s relationship with its neighbors.

Israel must be much clearer with its people, the Palestinians and the world; it has to admit in a clear voice that it wants to maintain the occupation and eschew peace. It was not interested in the 2002 Arab peace initiative nor the recent superficial peace negotiations to escape its suffering from hardline positions on everything. Israel must understand that giving the Palestine the choice between peace and Hamas does not interest us. No one doubts that Palestinians want peace, because we are the ones under occupation and we continually demand freedom.

Israel, it is time for you to stop using security issues to hamper peace. Haven’t you had enough of military checkpoints, barbed wire, and walls over land and sea? And you want the world to believe that we are the ones responsible for the Jerusalem bombing? Or that we terrify and want to eliminate you? Time has come for you to rethink your strategies and evaluate your policies that have led you to war rather than peace, bloodshed rather than life. Time has come for you to decide whether you want your futures government to live in peace with the Palestinians and the surrounding Arab world—to end this shameful chapter of humanity as a whole.

Sister Religion: Judaism,Christianty And Islam

The fundamental teachings of Moses, Jesus and Mohammed (pbut) are the same. The first commandment given to Moses (pbuh) was the Shama or Kalima, as Muslims would have it.

That Shama is:

De 6:4 “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is One LORD”

Same thing was repeated by Jesus (pbuh), when a scribe came to him and asks him which is the first commandment of all? Jesus replied:

MARK 12:29 And Jesus answered him, the first of all the commandments [is], Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is One Lord:

In the Medina some Christians came to Mohammed (pbuh) and asked him, what is your concept of God? At this moment God sent a revelation:

112:1 Say: He, God, is One.

If we read these verses in Hebrew or Arabic, the root word ‘One’ in Hebrew is “Ikhad” and in Arabic it is “Ahad”. Aramaic, Arabic and Hebrew are sister languages. Therefore, Moses said “Ikhad”, Jesus said “Ikhad” and Mohammed said “Ahad”. Meaning “One”.

If we are to believe in “ONE” God, than why God sent Moses (pbuh) with ‘Judaism’, Jesus (pbuh) with ‘Christianity’ and Mohammed (pbuh) with ‘Islam’?

If we are to follow the religion known as “Judaism” than this religion is not mentioned anywhere in the Law (Torah) (Old Testament) or Talmud or any other scriptures claimed by Jews to be the word of God. Nor did Moses (pbuh) in their sacred scriptures told his followers that their religion is “Judaism”. Where does this word “Judaism” comes from? Palestine was divided into tribes, one of them known as “Judea”. Therefore, the religion followed by the children of Juda in the land of Judea is known as “Judaism”.

If we are to follow the religion known as “Christianity” than this religion is not mentioned anywhere in the Bible. Nor did Jesus (pbuh) told his followers that your religion is known as “Christianity”. There are 73 books in the Catholic Bible and 66 Books in the Protestant Bible, But no word such as Christianity is found in them. The word “Christianity” is actually a derivation of people who after the ascension of Jesus (pbuh), accepted him as their Messiah. It was first used in Antioch.
Acts 11: 25-26 “Then Barnabas went to Tarsus to look for Saul, and when he found him, he brought him to Antioch. So for a whole year Barnabas and Saul met with the church and taught great numbers of people. The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch.
If Christians believe that Jesus (pbuh) was their Messiah and the Bible is the word of God, than they must realize that no where does God says in the Bible to be Christians or no where does Jesus say in the Bible to be Christians.

The Arabic word Islam is derived from the root word Salam or Shalom in Hebrew, meaning peace. The word “Islam” means Submission to God. Therefore, Muslims are those who submit themselves to God. This word is not only found in the sacred scripture of Muslims known as Koran, It is also found there in the Bible.

JAMES 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

PSALMS 66:3 Say unto God, How terrible [art thou in] thy works! through the greatness of thy power shall thine enemies submit themselves unto thee. {(The Pagan Arabs were also enemies of God, but later on they submitted themselves to God (Became Muslims)}

Of course, the word Islam or Muslim is mentioned many times in the Koran. Like in this verse:

3:20 But if they dispute with you, say: I have submitted myself entirely to God and (so) every one who follows me; and say to those who have been given the Book and the unlearned people: Do you submit yourselves? So if they submit then indeed they follow the right way; and if they turn back, then upon you is only the delivery of the message and God sees the servants.
Therefore if we had the chance of meeting Moses (pbuh) and would ask him, what is your religion (way of life)? He would say my religion is Submission to God (Islam). If we would be alive till the second coming of Jesus (pbuh) and would ask him, what is your religion? He would say my religion is Submission to God (Islam).
MATTHEW 4:10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
If he would say I am a Christian, we will ask him, which church do you belong to? Or do you accept the extra 7 books in Roman Catholic Bible or not?

Now the difference between Torah, Gospel and Quran is of Law. God gives Laws according to the situation. For example:

Mathew 38 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:
39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

Now the disciples of Jesus (pbuh) couldn’t follow An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth because they were very few and weak in force. Not even faithful as Jesus (pbuh) use to say:

MATTHEW 17:17 Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me.

But still Jesus (pbuh) said:

MATTHEW 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

If we ask a man of any religion that How many Gods do you believe in? His answer will be that God is One. For example a Hindu will also answer that God is One, but on the other hand he believes in God Incarnation! That God came to earth as Rama, Krishna, Seeva etc. The Christians would also say that we believe in One God, but they’ll say that God came on earth only as Jesus (pbuh) to live among us and understand us better. If that is so, why don’t you ask yourself a question? If God became a man to understand us better, why He didn’t became a Tree or a plant to understand it better? Why He didn’t became Sun to understand the Sun better? Why He didn’t became a Rabbit, to understand it better?
If we create a camera, to understand camera do we have to become camera ourselves! Or do we as camera’s creators would already know how to make the camera work better. Just like that God is the Creator of everything that exists. To understand us, God doesn’t have to come in a form of human, But he sends a man, a Prophet to His people, so that they may believe in him with their God gifted brains and would live a life as God wants them to live.
JOHN 20:17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and [to] my God, and your God.

Let us discuss the 2 major parts of Christianity:

1. Original Sin:
This takes us to the story of Adam (pbuh) in the Bible. It tells us that Adam and Eve were thrown out of the Paradise because of the Sin they committed.

GENESIS 3:8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.
9 And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where [art] thou?

Imagine, Adam and Eve HEARD the VOICE of the Lord God WALKING in the GARDEN in the COOL of The DAY. GOD WALKING!!!!! JOHN 4:24 God [is] a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship [him] in spirit and in truth.

In verse 9, the Creator of everything, The Greatest, The All-Knower, Is searching for Adam… WHERE ART THOU???

Christian theology tells us that the sin Adam & Eve committed, was inherited by everyone till the time of Jesus (pbuh). We ask, wasn’t kicking out of the garden enough punishment for them! No, says the Christian theology! Because of Adam and Eve, all mankind will pay for their sin! We would like to ask, Did Adam and Eve asked you before eating the apple? NO!!! Than how can the All-Wise, Master of the Day of Judgment would held you responsible for their sin? The theology says, that Jesus (pbuh) was Crucified to neutralize that sin. Can The Most Merciful God not forgive your sins without having Jesus (pbuh) crucified in such pain and difficulties?

MATTHEW 27:46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

2 Divinity Of Christ:
Perfect God means that there is no sharer in His Nature and His Attributes:

“Say: He is God, the One and Only; God, the Eternal, Absolute; He begetteth
not, nor is He begotten; and there is none like unto Him.” (Holy Qur’an,

How then can man be justified with God? Or how can he be clean that is born of a woman?-(JOB 25:4).

“..To whom then will ye liken God? Or what likeness will ye compare unto Him?”- (ISAIAH 40:18).

“I am the Lord thy God…Thou shalt have no other gods before Me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them nor serve them.”-(EXODUS 20:2-5).

Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know.-(ACTS 2:22).

I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me. If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true.-(JOHN 5:30-31).

And, behold, one came and said unto him (Jesus), “Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?” And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? There is none good but One, that is God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the Commandments.-(MATTHEW 19:16-17).

The Ancestors of “God”: “The generations of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.” (Matthew, 1:1)

The Sex of “God”: “And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called Jesus.” (Luke, 2:21)

How Mary Conceived and Delivered “God”. Mary conceived Jesus like any other woman: “The days were accomplished that she should be delivered,” (Luke,2:6) which means that she went through all the normal stages of pregnancy.
Nor was her delivery any different from other expectant mothers: “And she being with child cried, travelling in birth, and pained to be delivered.” (Revelation, 12:2)

The Country of Origin of “God”: “Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king. (Matthew, 2:1)

The Occupation of “God”: “Jesus was a carpenter by trade.” (Mark, 6:3), “and the son of a carpenter.” (Matthew, 13:55)

“God” Was a Devout Jew: “And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.” (Mark, 1:35)

“God” Was a Loyal Subject: Jesus was a good citizen, he was loyal to Caesar. He said: “Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s; and unto God the things that are God’s.” (Matthew, 22:21) He paid his tax regularly. (Matthew, 17:24-27)

Mental, Physical and Moral Development of “God”: “And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.” (Luke, 2:52)

“God” Was 12 Years Old When His Parents Took Him to Jerusalem: “Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the passover. And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast.” (Luke, 2:41-42)

The Powerless “God” (Jesus) said: “I can of mine own self do nothing.” (John, 5:30)

“God” Was Ignorant of the Time. Jesus said: “But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.” (Mark, 13:32)

“God” Was Ignorant of the Season: “And on the morrow, when they were come from Bethany, he (Jesus) was hungry: and seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if haply he might find anything thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not yet.” (Mark, 11:12-13)
The Devil Tempted “God” For 40 Days: “And immediately the spirit driveth him into the wilderness. And he was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted of Satan.” (Mark, 1:12-13)

The Devil Tempted “God” Continuously: “And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.” (Luke, 4:13)

Like the Sinners, “God” Was Tempted In All Things: “But (he) was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.” (Hebrews, 4:15)

True God Cannot be Tempted With Evil: “God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man.” (James,

Only The Ungodly Are Tempted With Evil: “But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.” (James, 1:14)

“God” Came For The Jews Only: “But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” (Matthew, 15:24)

Racial Discrimination of “God”: “These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” (Matthew, 10:5-6)

The Titles of “God”: “The king of the Jews” (Matthew, 2:2), “The king of Israel” (John, 1:49; 12:13)

A Hungry “God”: “And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungered.” (Matthew 4:2), “Now in the morning as he returned into the city, he hungered.” (Matthew, 21:18), “and on the morrow, when they were come from Bethany, he was hungry.” (Mark, 11:12)

A Thirsty “God”: “(He) saith, I thirst.” (John, 19:28)

A Sleepy “God”: “He was asleep.” (Matthew, 8:24), “He fell asleep” (Luke, 8:23), “And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow.” (Mark, 4:38)

The “God” of War: Jesus said: “Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.” (Matthew, 10:34)

The Sabre-Rattling “God”: Jesus said: “And he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.” (Luke, 22:36)

“God” Fled in Disguise: “Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.” (John, 8:59)

1 For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him;
2 To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace;
3 Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.
Now my dear brothers and sisters, I would like to end with few Quranic verses:

5:77 Say: “O people of the Book! (Jews & Christians) exceed not in your religion the bounds (of what is proper), trespassing beyond the truth, nor follow the vain desires of people who went wrong in times gone by,- who misled many, and strayed (themselves) from the even way.

5:76 Say: “Will ye worship, besides God, something which hath no power either to harm or benefit you? But God,- He it is that heareth and knoweth all things.”

5:75 Christ the son of Mary was no more than a messenger; many were the messengers that passed away before him. His mother was a woman of truth. They had both to eat their (daily) food. See how God doth make His signs clear to them; yet see in what ways they are deluded away from the truth!

3:67 Abraham was not a Jew nor yet a Christian; but he was true in Faith, and bowed his will to God’s(Which is Islam), and he joined not gods with God.

For Workers’ Power and International Socialism

Socialism in the 21st Century.. How feasible is that? Is it a Utopian dream as supporters of capitalism say? Is it something of the past as others charge?
At a time when the world is faced with a global financial crisis that is the worst since the Great Depression, faced with increasing poverty, wars, famines and humanitarian crises, the fight for socialism becomes literally a matter of life and death for the planet and its inhabitants.

The Center for Socialist Studies strives to be a platform for the dissemination of socialist ideas and politics, providing venue for those who want to change the world with the theoretical literature needed for this struggle. The Center produces a variety of publications (newsletters, books, magazines), holds public events and lectures in solidarity with the workers, peasants, students and civil servants.

The Center does not receive any foreign funds from governments or NGOs, and instead depends on the contributions and donations from its members and sympathizers.

The Center is located @ 7 Mourad Street, Giza Square.

Israel’s Latest Apartheid Law

Those of us who have been veteran comrades in the struggle for peace and justice in Palestine have quite often been frustrated by the inability to galvanize enough support in the political and media establishments in the West against the brutal occupation of the West Bank and the strangulation of Gaza.  We believed that clear cut evidence of the oppression and the highly visible criminal policies that raged since 1967 should have at least triggered a world reaction similar to the one that now takes place against Libya, and even more so.

But we know all the reasons why it did not, and will not happen. And yet we may have overlooked one particular reason, indeed one successful ploy of the Israeli peace camp that seems to have aborted any such effort in its buds. The liberal Zionists believe strongly in the existence of two discrete entities one Israel and one that lies on the other side of the 1967 green line which have very little in common. The acceptance of this line as a hard fact is the main justification given in the West for the inaction against Israel (one which is also supported by some of Palestine’s best friends and of course the Palestinian Authority). The line drawn is not just a political boundary it is mainly a moral border. Everything that is happening in the occupied world is diametrically opposed to life in democratic Israel and hence the argument is that if you treat Israel as a pariah state then you will also harm the ‘good’ part, the pre-1967 state. This is also the basis to the continued support for the two states solution that bases peace on the ability of moral Israel to re-invent itself in the pre-1967 borders.

I hope this distinction would at least disappear from the vocabulary and dictionary of the Western solidarity movement with Palestine (where it can still be heard in loyalty to the peace camp in Israel, the PA and the invisible lord of realpolitik). That this distinction is false was proved once more this week (20 March, 2011) when yet another apartheid law was passed in Israel. This new law allows Jewish settlements built on state land inside Israel not to admit Israeli Palestinian citizens as residents and  legalizes the wish of these new settlers not to sell land to  the Palestinians citizens of the state. This is one of many such laws passed recently (the loyalty oath law that turns the Palestinians in Israel to second class citizens by law and one which does not allow them to live with their Palestinians spouses from the occupied territories are two of the more famous apartheid laws passed recently). The new law, like the previous others,  institutionalize the Apartheid State of Israel  or for short ASOI.

ASOI is now one of worst apartheid regimes in the world. It controls almost all of Palestine (apart from Gaza which it imprisoned hermetically since 2005). It has, in absolute terms the highest number of political prisoners (China was reported to have less then 1000, Iran has few thousands); Israel holds nearly 10,000 of them. It has the largest number of apartheid laws and regulations than any country in the world and apart from the Arab regimes that are now collapsing and rogue states such as  Miramar and North Korea,  has the longest imposition of emergency laws and regulations that rob citizens of their most basic human and civil rights. Its policies against the discriminated native population, now composing nearly half of the overall population in ASOI,  include atrocities such as  barring people from using water sources, from cultivating their fields, building more houses, from getting to work, schools or universities and it bans them from commemorating their history and in particular the 1948 Nakbah.

ASOI is protected by left wing philosophers, mostly Jewish but not only, in the USA and the West as well as by the new members of the European Union whose deplorable record during the holocaust may explain their unconditional support for ASOI. It enjoys the unconditional backing of many Jewish communities in the World, Christian Zionists and cynical corporations who benefit from ASOI’s military elite’s  proclivity to use lethal weapons at will and from the state’s progressive banking system and a high tech know how.

ASOI could become the Free Republic of Israel and Palestine (FRISP) or any similar name, where people would enjoy the same rights now fought for all over the Arab world and which the West claim to disseminate and protect all over the world. If ASOI will not become FRISP, any action such as the one taken now by the West in Libya would rightly be regarded suspiciously as cynical and dishonest.

Linkage has lost it attraction since it was misused by Saddam Hussein in 1991. But now is the time to revive it. It is time to realize that there will not be a new Middle East – in fact, there will no world peace – if ASOI continues to enjoy immunity and is not curbed and stopped – and hopefully one day  – replaced by the democratic FRISP.
