WAFA: “Settlers’ violence against Palestinians continues with an attack on olive harvesters in Hebron”

HEBRON, Saturday, October 29, 2022 (WAFA) – Israeli settlers continued today their daily attacks against Palestinian civilians, mainly farmers harvesting their olive crops, with an attack on farmers picking their olives in the Tel Romeida neighborhood in the southern West Bank city of Hebron, according to local sources.

They told WAFA that settlers from the illegal settlement of Beit Hadasa, located in the heart of occupied Hebron, attacked, under Israeli army protection, Palestinian olive harvesters and volunteers helping them and stealing their harvest.

Settlers have been attacking Palestinians harvesting their olive crops in several areas located near the settlements in the occupied West Bank and either prevent them from continuing in the harvest or steal their crops.

None of the attackers have ever been arrested or persecuted for their actions while soldiers provide them with protection and attack the Palestinians who attempt to defend themselves or push the settlers back.

Israeli Soldiers Shoot A Palestinian Near Nablus

On Friday, Israeli soldiers shot a young Palestinian man and caused many to suffer the effects of tear gas inhalation in Beit Dajan, east of Nablus, in the northern part of the occupied West Bank.

Dozens of Palestinians marched in Beit and Beit Dajan, protesting the escalating Israeli violations and the illegal colonialist activities before the soldiers attacked them with live rounds, rubber-coated steel bullets, gas bombs, and concussion grenades.

Medical sources said the soldiers shot one Palestinian with a rubber-coated steel bullet in Beit Dajan and caused many to suffer the effects of tear gas inhalation.

The Palestinians have been holding ongoing processions on their lands in Sbeih Mountain in Beita, and in Beit Dajan, since May of last year after a group of illegal Israeli colonizers installed an outpost atop the Mountain.

The soldiers injured thousands of Palestinians during these protests and killed several others, including children.

The Mountain, owned by the Palestinians, has significant strategic importance, especially since if the colonizers occupied it, the colony would lead to the annexation of 20 Dunams of Palestinian lands and would also lead to the isolation of a large area of Palestinian lands.

Also Friday, the Palestinian Health Ministry has confirmed the death of a second Palestinian who was seriously injured after the soldiers killed a Palestinian man in his car.

29 Palestinian children shot, killed by Israeli forces in 2022 in West Bank, DCIP says

Father of slain Palestinian Adel Daoud, 14, bids the last farewell to his son on October 7, 2022 who was killed by Israeli forces in Qalqilya

Occupied West Bank (QNN)- 29 Palestinian children have been shot and killed by Israeli forces or settlers in the occupied West Bank so far in 2022, according to Defense for Children International – Palestine (DCIP).

In a new report published on October 24, the local Palestinian child rights organization said that “Israeli forces have intensified arrest operations and incursions into Palestinian cities in the occupied West Bank in recent months, leading to an increase in the number of Palestinian children killed by Israeli forces.”

The group added, “Dozens of Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank since the Israeli military launched its Operation “Break the Wave” on March 31, 2022.”

46 Palestinian children have been killed in 2022, according to documentation collected by DCIP, including 29 Palestinian children shot and killed by Israeli forces or settlers in the occupied West Bank.

DCIP documented the killing of 17 Palestinian children between August 5–7 after Israeli forces launched a military aggression in the Gaza Strip.

Israeli forces have killed seven Palestinian boys in the occupied West Bank since the beginning of October,” said Ayed Abu Eqtaish, accountability program director at DCIP. “There are no investigations, just Palestinian children being shot dead by Israeli soldiers that can do no wrong in a system that views all Palestinians as targets and unlawful killings are the norm.”

DCIP said that under international law, “intentional lethal force is only justified in circumstances where a direct threat to life or of serious injury is present.”

However, “investigations and evidence collected by DCIP regularly suggest that Israeli forces use lethal force against Palestinian children in circumstances that may amount to extrajudicial or wilful killings.”

2021 was the deadliest year for Palestinian children since 2014. Israeli forces and armed settlers killed 78 Palestinian children, according to evidence collected by DCIP.

Media sources said the colonizers invaded Palestinian farmland and orchards in Salfit and Yasuf town, in the central West Bank, before harvesting Palestinian olive trees and stealing the produce.

The colonizers, who came from the illegal Rahalim colony built on Palestinian lands east of Yasuf village, east of Salfit, stole tools used by the Palestinians to pick their olive trees.

The colonizers also cut at least forty olive trees in the Wad Abdul-Rahman Valley, north of Salfit, and stole the produce before fleeing the area; the lands are isolated behind the illegal Annexation Wall.

While the colonizers can reach the orchards without obstacles, the Palestinians need special permits that are constantly delayed or even denied by the army.

The colonizers also hurled stones at many Palestinian cars and trucks in the Wadi Ad-Dalb area and Deir Ibzi’ area, west of the central West Bank city of Ramallah.

In the Northern Plains of the West Bank, the colonizers bulldozed Palestinian lands in the Wadi Al-Faw area.
