Updated: “Palestinian Teen Killed By Fire Near Ramallah”

On Friday, the Palestinian Health Ministry confirmed that a Palestinian teenage boy was killed by Israeli fire in the al-Mughayyir village, northeast of Ramallah, and injured several others.

In a statement, the Health Ministry said Amjad Nash’at Abu Alia, 16 years of age, was shot in the chest before being rushed to a hospital in Ramallah but succumbed to his serious wounds.

It added that the soldiers also shot at least one Palestinian with live fire and another young man with a rubber-coated steel bullet, causing many to suffer the effects of tear gas inhalation.

While it is a known fact that Amjad was killed by Israeli fire, it remains unclear whether he was killed by Israeli army fire or by a paramilitary colonizer, especially since both fired live rounds at the Palestinians.

According to some reports, Abu Alia was shot by a paramilitary colonizer after the nonviolent procession started from the center of the village.

The head of the al-Mughayyir Village Council told Middle East Eye that Amjad was shot by the colonizers and not the soldiers.

Also, the bullet that killed Amjad was aimed at the upper body, which indicates that it was meant to be lethal.

Meanwhile, the Al-Jazeera News Agency quoted a journalist, Hadi Sabarneh, who was at the scene, stating that both Israeli soldiers and paramilitary colonizers arrived at the protest area, including a colonist who had an M-16 rifle.

“Both the soldiers and the settler were firing at the Palestinian protesters who hurled stones at the army,” he said, “The soldiers and the colonizer opened fire before the teen fell to the ground.”

The spokesperson of the Israeli occupation army said the military was “aware of the reports,” adding that the soldiers “responded after Palestinian protesters hurled stones and burnt tires…” he also said that the Palestinian protesters and Israeli colonizers hurled stones at each other…”

The Palestinians marched on their lands in the village, protesting the ongoing violations and constant colonialist attempts to annex them illegally before Israeli soldiers and colonizers opened fire at them.

The Israeli army also shot at least one other Palestinian with live fire, and one with rubber-coated steel bullets, in addition to causing dozens to suffer the effects of tear gas inhalation.

It is worth mentioning that the illegal colonizers frequently invade the village, especially its lands in Marj ath-Thahab and Ein Samia areas, to build new outposts.

Palestinian Prime Minister, Dr. Mohammad Shtayyeh, denounced the child’s killing and called on the International Community to act and stop the Israeli crimes, especially since they go unpunished.

He added that the Israeli occupation army acts with impunity, especially due to the absence of accountability, which encourages it to commit more crimes and violations.

Israeli Soldiers Injure Several Palestinians Near Nablus

On Friday, Israeli soldiers injured many Palestinians in Beita and Beit Dajan towns, south, and east of the northern West Bank city of Nablus.

Dozens of Palestinians marched to their lands, protesting the ongoing Israeli violations and the illegal annexation of their lands before the soldiers attacked them with live fire, rubber-coated steel bullets, and gas bombs.

Ahmad Jibril, the head of the Emergency Department at the Nablus office of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS), said the soldiers shot two Palestinians with rubber-coated steel bullets and caused at least fifteen to suffer the effects of tear gas inhalation.

The Palestinians have been holding ongoing processions on their lands in Sbeih Mountain in Beita, and in Beit Dajan, since May of last year after a group of illegal Israeli colonizers installed an outpost atop the Mountain.

The soldiers injured thousands of Palestinians during these protests and killed several others, including children.

The Mountain, owned by the Palestinians, has significant strategic importance, especially since if the colonizers occupied it, the colony would lead to the annexation of 20 Dunams of Palestinian lands and would also lead to the isolation of a large area of Palestinian lands.

Detainee Rayyan Suspends Hunger strike After Reaching An Agreement For His Release

On Friday, Palestinian political prisoner Raed Rayyan ended the hunger strike, which lasted for 113 days, after reaching an agreement limiting his Administrative Detention orders before releasing him.

The Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) said Rayyan, 27, from Beit Duqqu near occupied Jerusalem, reached a very serious health condition but remained determined to continue the strike until his Administrative Detention is ended.

Rayyan’s father said he was surprised to receive a phone call from his son, apparently through his lawyer, at the Ramla Prison Clinic informing him that the agreement was reached under several guarantees, including imprisoned senior political leaders, such as the Secretary General of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), who will conduct various protest measures, including a comprehensive hunger in all Israeli prisons, especially Ofar, Ramon and the Negev Detention Camp, if Israel reneges on the agreement.

While detailed information remains unavailable, the agreement states that Israel will not renew the current Administrative Detention orders.

It is worth mentioning that Rayyan was abducted on November 3rd, 2021, and was slapped with a four-month Administrative Detention order before he was slapped with a six-month Administrative Detention order.

He is also a former political prisoner who spent 21 months under the same Administrative Detention orders without charges or trial.

Israel Renews Annexation Order Of Palestinian Lands Near Nablus

Thursday, the Israeli occupation authorities renewed an annexation order of 16.5 Dunams of Palestinian lands near Nablus, in the northern part of the occupied West Bank.

Mohammad Azem, the head of the Joint Services Council for villages in northern Nablus, said the army handed the order, renewing the annexation of the Palestinian lands, until the year 2027, for what the military described as “military purposes.”

Azem added that lands, 16.583 Dunams, are owned by Palestinians from the towns of Deir Sharaf and Naqoura, west of Nablus.

Azem also said annexed lands are much larger than the 16.5 Dunams declared in the military order and that the Palestinians have all official deeds proving ownership.

The lands are in Basin 12 of Naqoura village and Basin 10 of Deir Sharaf and are near the illegal Shavei Shomron illegal colony, built on stolen Palestinian lands.

All of Israel’s colonies in the occupied West Bank, including those in and around occupied East Jerusalem, are illegal under International Law, the Fourth Geneva Convention in addition to various United Nations and Security Council resolutions. They also constitute war crimes under International Law.

Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention states: “The Occupying Power shall not deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies.” It also prohibits the “individual or mass forcible transfers, as well as deportations of protected persons from occupied territory”.
