On Friday, Israeli soldiers injured many Palestinians and detained five international peace activists during a nonviolent procession against the ongoing illegal colonialist activities in Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron, in the southern part of the occupied West Bank.
The Palestinian, accompanied by Israeli and international peace activists, marched under the slogan “No to a new Nakba in Masafer Yatta.”
Rateb Jabour, the coordinator of the National and Popular Committees against the Annexation Wall and Colonies in southern Hebron, said the soldiers assaulted the nonviolent protesters in the Ein al-Baida area and the al-Jawaya community in Masafer Yatta.
Jabour said the soldiers also fired gas bombs and concussion grenades, causing dozens to suffer the effects of tear gas inhalation, cuts, and bruises, and detained five international peace activists.
The procession was held in areas facing constant violations and the threat of illegal Israeli annexation for the benefit of the illegal colonies built on stolen Palestinian lands in a direct violation of International Law, the Fourth Geneva Convention, and various United Nations resolutions.
They also constitute war crimes under International Law. Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention states: “The Occupying Power shall not deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies.” It also prohibits the “individual or mass forcible transfers, as well as deportations of protected persons from occupied territory.”
