Soldiers And Colonizers Attack Nonviolent Protesters In Hebron

On Saturday afternoon, Israeli soldiers and illegal colonizers attacked a nonviolent procession in Tarqoumia town, northwest of Hebron, in the southern part of the occupied West Bank.

Suleiman Ja’afra, a member of the Land Defense Committee in Tarqoumia, said the Palestinians held the procession to protest the ongoing Israeli attempts to occupy their lands in the at-Taybeh area, also known as al-Harsh.

He added that the soldiers and many colonizers attacked the violent protesters after a verbal confrontation that took place when the colonizer tried to prevent the Palestinians from removing the weeds and building retaining walls on their lands.

It is worth mentioning that the Israeli army recently handed orders to ten Palestinians forcing them out of their lands, planted with olives and grapevines.

The Israeli army claims that lands, more than six hundred Dunams, are “state lands,” although the Palestinians privately own them.

Israel is trying to expand Adora and Telem illegal colonies by confiscating the Palestinian lands in the area to allow for the new constructions.

All of Israel’s colonies in the occupied West Bank, including those in and around occupied East Jerusalem, are illegal under International Law, the Fourth Geneva Convention in addition to various United Nations and Security Council resolutions. They also constitute war crimes under International Law.

Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention states: “The Occupying Power shall not deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies.” It also prohibits the “individual or mass forcible transfers, as well as deportations of protected persons from occupied territory”.
