378 Israeli colonial settlers break into Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa Mosque under forces protection

Occupied Jerusalem (QNN)- 378 Israeli colonial settlers broke into the courtyards of the Al-Aqsa mosque compound in occupied Jerusalem earlier on Thursday.

To mark the so-called Israel’s Independence Day, dozens of well-armed Israeli occupation forces raided the Al-Aqsa mosque, at around 8:am local time, to make a way for settlers to break into the holy site.

The occupation forces attacked and beat the Palestinian worshipers inside the holy site. They fired tear gas canisters, sound bombs, and rubber-coated metal bullets towards the worshipers to disperse them, injuring at least 12 people.

Local sources said the forces also blockaded the worshipers inside the prayer halls to empty the courtyards of its worshipers to secure the settlers’ entry.

Al-Qastal documented that 378 colonial settlers broke into the mosque. The settlers performed provocative Talmudic prayers and raised the Israeli occupation flags after entering the mosque through the Al-Mughrabi Gate which is under full-Israeli control.

WAFA: “Israeli forces detain eight Palestinians from West Bank”

RAMALLAH, Thursday, May 05, 2022 (WAFA) – Israeli forces today and Wednesday evening detained at least eight Palestinians from various parts of the West Bank, according to local and security sources.

They said that two Palestinians were detained as Israeli police attacked Palestinian worshipers inside Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa Mosque compound amid renewed settler intrusions this morning.

Police also detained three others from the courtyards of the flashpoint site as they beefed up their deployments on Wednesday evening in anticipation of the settler intrusions.

Police stormed the Jerusalem neighborhood of Batn Al-Hawa in Silwan and indiscriminately opened fire on local teenagers attempting to block their passage. No injuries were reported though.

Still in Jerusalem district, Israeli forces Wednesday evening detained Deputy Director of the Waqf Department, Najeh Bkeirat, after stopping him at the permanently staffed Mazmouria checkpoint, southeast of the occupied city.

In Bethlehem district, the sources confirmed that two teens, aged 13 and 14, were abducted by Israeli soldiers from the vicinity of the eastern entrance of the Aida refugee camp.

Meanwhile, a Palestinian from the besieged Gaza Strip was detained in the vicinity of the border fence, east of Khan Younes.

Israeli forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost daily across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.

These raids, which take place also in areas under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.

Under Israeli military law, army commanders have full executive, legislative and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.

On Thursday, illegal Israeli colonizers invaded large areas of Palestinian farmlands and orchards and had their livestock feed on hundreds of olive saplings and fifteen dunams planted with Hummus plants near Bethlehem in the occupied West Bank.

Ibrahim Mousa, the Mayor of Al-Khader town south of Bethlehem, said the colonizers came from the illegal Sidi Boaz colony, built on Palestinian lands, west of the town.

He added that the colonizers brought their large flock of sheep into the Palestinian lands to feed on the plants and olive saplings.

The sheep ate and destroyed at least three hundred olive saplings and fifteen dunams planted with hummus.

The colonizers frequently invade Palestinian lands and attack the farmers in Ein al-Qassis and Ein al-Ghaweet areas in Al-Khader.

The attacks include uprooting crops and trees, assaulting the farmers, releasing their dogs to attack the Palestinians, and bringing their livestock to graze in the farmlands.

All of Israel’s colonies in the occupied West Bank, including those in and around occupied East Jerusalem, are illegal under International Law, the Fourth Geneva Convention, in addition to various United Nations and Security Council resolutions. They also constitute war crimes under International Law.

Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention states: “The Occupying Power shall not deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies.” It also prohibits the “individual or mass forcible transfers, as well as deportations of protected persons from occupied territory.”
