Settlement Expansion in Occupied West Bank City Increase by 200% in 2021

DAYS OF PALESTINE – WEST BANK – Settlement expansion in Salfit city in the occupied West Bank is increasing and reaching unprecedented levels, Dr. Khaled Maali, researcher in settlement affairs said.

“Expansion and settlement activity exceeded 200% in 2021 compared to 2020, especially in the north areas of Salfit city in Wadi Abd al-Rahman, and in Jabal al-Ras, west of the city.” Khaled Maali said.

Maali pointed out that the Israeli occupation announced a plan in 2021 that will seize 4,000 dunams in al- Ras area west of Salfit, 2,000 dunams in Wadi Abd al-Rahman, north of Salfit, and other lands in villages and towns in the governorate.

Maali indicated the intention to open a road to link “Ariel” settlement with the industrial zone, and to establish a railway linking “Ariel” settlement to Tel Aviv, crossing with the stolen Palestinian lands.

“The Israeli occupation has transferred Salfit Governorate from Al-Zaytoun Governorate to the Settlement Governorate.” Maali added.
