Days of Palestine – Salfit – Hardline Israeli settlers razed on Monday areas of lands of the village of Shufa and uprooted dozens of olive trees for Palestinian farmers southeast of Tulkarm in the occupied West Bank.
Local sources said that the lands and olive trees belong to the Hamed family from the village.
Tahseen Hamed, an activist in the field of land defense in Shufa, said that they were surprised this morning when they went to work on the land, with razing operations about a kilometer long and opening a road towards the settlement of Avni Hefetz, which is built on the lands of the villages of Shufa, Kafa, Kafr al-Labad, and al-Hafasi.
“More than 40 olive trees were uprooted, indicating that the bulldozing operations took place in the cover of darkness,” he added.
Although violence and vandalism by Israeli settlers are commonplace throughout the year, attacks and acts of vandalism by Israeli settlers intensified during the past three months across the occupied West Bank, especially in the north of the territory.
Israeli settler violence against Palestinians and their property is routine in the West Bank and is rarely prosecuted by Israeli occupation authorities.
There are over 650,000 Israeli settlers living in colonial settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem in violation of international law and consensus.
