IOF Assaults Palestinian Detainees in Ofer, Megiddo Prisons

Days of Palestine – Ramallah – Israeli occupation forces (IOF) stormed on Sunday the prison cells in the Ofer and Megiddo military prisons and assaulted Palestinian detainees.

Hassan Abdrabu, the Commission of detainees and ex-detainees affairs spokesperson, said that IOF stormed the prison cells, assaulted prisoners, and threatened to impose new sanctions on them.

He added that the occupation prisons administration is trying to pressure the prisoners through intimidating and extorting, to discourage them from their struggle steps.

In a statement, the Commission condemned “the barbaric assault the (Palestinian) detainees in Israeli prisons.”

The Commission held the Israeli authorities fully responsible for what happened in the Ofer prison, urging international rights groups to “immediately intervene to stop Israeli crimes against Palestinian detainees.”

Last month, leaked footage of Israeli forces brutally assaulting Palestinian detainees in the Negev prison in southern Israel sparked outrage among Palestinians and led to calls for international protection for the Palestinians in Israeli jails.

According to Palestinian official figures, around 5,300 Palestinian detainees — including 40 women, 250 children under the age of 18, and around 520 held under Israeli administrative detention policy with no charges or trials — are languishing in Israeli jails.

IOF, settlers attack Palestinians in Sheikh Jarrah

Days of Palestine – Jerusalem – Israeli settlers, under the protection of Israeli occupation forces (IOF), attacked on Saturday Palestinian civilians in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of the occupied Jerusalem.

Local sources said that dozens of hardline settlers, under the protection of IOF, tried to attack Salem’s Family, noting that IOF assaulted them by spraying hot pepper gas on their faces, injuring a number of them.

Salem’s Family sent a distress call to the whole world and everyone who could reach the neighborhood, to provide them with protection.

“We are afraid that we will be burned inside our homes,” Fatima Salem said.

Sources stated that Salem’s family had received a final decision from IOF to forcibly displace them from their home.

Eyewitnesses reported that Israeli settlers attacked Palestinians by throwing stones at them, their vehicles, and homes in the neighborhood.

They added that IOF protected the settlers and fired tear gas canisters at the Palestinians who went out to confront the settlers’ attacks against them.

Jerusalemite sources said that settlers also smashed the windows of a number of vehicles belonging to Palestinians in the neighborhood, in front of the IOF.

They added that clashes erupted between the citizens and the occupation forces, as the occupation soldiers fired rubber-coated metal bullets, tear gas, and sound bombs at the citizens and their homes.

Meanwhile, the extremist Knesset member Itamar Ben Gvir announced his intention to move his office to Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood under the pretext of “providing protection for settlers.”

Dozens of families in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood are still facing the threat of ethnic cleansing and forced displacement from their homes in favor of settlement projects, as settlers continue their attacks on the neighborhood, while the occupation authorities tighten their arbitrary measures against its residents in an attempt to displace them.

Israel occupied East Jerusalem during the 1967 Arab-Israeli war and annexed the entire city in 1980 – a move that has never been recognized by the international community.

Israeli Settlers Chop Off, Uproot 80 Olive Trees in Salfit

Days of Palestine – Salfit – Hardline Israeli settlers on Saturday uprooted or chopped off 80 olive saplings and trees for Palestinian farmers in the occupied West Bank province of Salfit, according to local sources.

Local sources said that settlers uprooted and chopped off nearly 80 olive saplings belonging to local Palestinian citizens from the village of Yasuf.

The incident occurred only hours after a similar attack by Israeli settlers in the town of Surif, south of the occupied West Bank, they added.

Although violence and vandalism by Israeli settlers are commonplace throughout the year, attacks and acts of vandalism by Israeli settlers intensified during the past three months across the occupied West Bank, especially in the north of the territory.

Israeli settler violence against Palestinians and their property is routine in the West Bank and is rarely prosecuted by Israeli occupation authorities.

There are over 650,000 Israeli settlers living in colonial settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem in violation of international law and consensus.

Israeli Navy Attacks Palestinian Fishermen Off Coast of Rafah

Days of Palestine – Gaza – The Israeli occupation navy chased on Saturday the fishing boats in the sea of Rafah governorate in the southern Gaza Strip.

Local sources reported that the Israeli navy stationed in the sea of Rafah chased the fishermen and their boats into the sea, opened water cannons towards them, and forced them to leave.

No injuries were reported.

They added that naval boats chased and pumped water at Palestinian fishing boats sailing within 6 nautical miles.

Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR) noted that the Israeli naval forces continued their attacks against the Palestinian fishermen in Gaza Waters, including the shooting by the Israeli gunboats at Palestinian fishing boats that were sailing in different areas of the Gaza Strip shore.

These attacks aim at terrifying and preventing fishermen from fishing and forcing them to flee and stop fishing.

PCHR emphasizes that the attacks by the Israeli naval forces against the fishermen in the Gaza Strip fall within the collective punishment policy imposed against the Palestinian civilians and violate the right to work codified in Article (6) of the International Covenant on Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights.

IOF Erects Military Checkpoints, Obstacles Palestinians Movement South of Jenin

Days of Palestine – Jenin – Israeli occupation forces (IOF) set up on Saturday several military checkpoints near the junction of the town of Arraba and the village of Kfirt, and on the main street in the village of Bir al-Basha, south of Jenin.

Local sources said that the IOF stopped the Palestinian vehicles, searched them, and checked their passengers’ IDs, which obstacles the citizens’ movements.

They added that clashes erupted last night between citizens and the IOF at the Araba junction on Jenin Street – Nablus, during which soldiers fired rubber-coated metal bullets, sound bombs, and tear gas.

Many restrictions on freedom of movement for Palestinian residents are directly linked to the IOF, including restrictions aimed at protecting the settlements and maintaining “buffer zones”. Restrictions include checkpoints, settler-only roads, and physical impediments created by walls and gates.
