Israeli Colonizers Open Fire At Palestinian Homes In Sheikh Jarrah

Illegal Israeli colonizers fired, on Wednesday evening, many live rounds at Palestinian homes in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in occupied Jerusalem, in the West Bank.

Eyewitnesses said the colonizers invaded an area close to the illegal Mea Shearim colony and fired many live rounds at the Palestinian homes before fleeing the scene,

They added that Israeli police arrived at the scene and removed the Palestinians who gathered in the area to see if the families were hurt or needed immediate help.

The soldiers also assaulted a young Palestinian man, before abducting him, and moved him to an interrogation facility; no Israeli colonizers were detained or even questioned by the police.

The families in Sheikh Jarrah, who are still facing displacement due to Israel’s illegal policies and colonialist activities, have been subject to escalating violations by the colonizers, who attacked homes and cars, causing damage, in addition to assaulting the residents themselves, leading to many injuries.

The Israeli army also frequently invades the neighborhood, storms homes, and abducts many Palestinians.

In Sheikh Jarrah, eight families of nineteen households of 87 Palestinians, are at imminent risk of forcible transfer, due to the separate case filed against them before Israeli courts by the settler organization Nahalat Shimon International.

Alarmingly, Nahalat Shimon International has previously evicted three Palestinian families of around 67 Palestinians from the neighborhood in 2008 and 2009.

Political Prisoner Ongoing With Hunger Strike After 135 Days

After 135 days of hunger strike, political prisoner Hisham Abu Hawwash, is facing serious potential complications due to his ongoing hunger strike against his Administrative Detention with no charges and no possibility of a trial.

After refusing food for four and a half months, recent photos reveal a severely malnourished and frail Abu Hawwash, 40, in his hospital bed at the Assaf Harofeh medical center in Israel.

A married father of five children, Abu Hawwash is suffering from severe weakness, decreased level of consciousness and has lost a significant percentage of his body weight, with his rib cage and hip bones highly visible.

Lawyers to the Ma’an News Agency that Hisham is no longer able to speak or move, and spokesman for the Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs Commission, Thaer Shreiteh, stated that doctors warm that he may enter a critical stage of health at any time.

The Israeli Prison Authority trasferred Abu Hawwash to the Israeli Assaf Harofeh medical center on December 26 from solitary confinement at the Ramla Israeli prison due to his dangerous condition.

The Palestinian Prisoners’ Society (PPS) attorney, Jawad Boulus, affirmed that the prison authorities froze the Administrative Detention order on December 26, which only changed his status from ‘administrative detainee‘ to ‘unofficial prisoner.’

Abu Hawwash, from Doura town, south of Hebron, in the southern occupied West Bank, was detained on October 27th, 2020 and immediately handed an 18 month Administrative Detention order.

Furthermore, Abu Hawwash is a former political prisoner who has frequently been imprisoned by Israel since 2003, having spent a total of eight years in Israeli prison.

Attorney Boulus stated that Abu Hawash is unable to stand or walk and struggles just to speak, in addition to the various potential life-threatening complications, however he is determined to continue his hunger strike in an attempt to gain his freedom.

Palestinian resistance factions in Gaza conduct military drill

Gaza Strip (QNN)- The Palestinian resistance factions in the Gaza Strip conducted this week a joint military drill aiming at enhancing the efficiency and full readiness of fighters to be able to confront any Israeli aggression.

The four-day joint military drill, dubbed “Al-Rukn Al-Shadid 2,” which means “the strong foundation,” started on Sunday and completed on Wednesday, aimed at simulating responses to an Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.

Several Palestinian resistance factions participated in the drill, including the Islamic Resistance movement of Hamas, Islamic Jihad, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, and a number of other Palestinian groups, except the military wing of Fatah movement.

In a statement issued on behalf of all the resistance factions participating in the drill, Hamas said that the “resistance will not sit idly by as the occupation escalates its violations against our Palestinian people.”

“Palestinian resistance in Gaza is ready to face any Israeli aggression,” a senior leader of Al Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Jihad also said.

“The Palestinian resistance in the Gaza Strip is united and ready to face any new Zionist aggression,” the senior leader of Al Quds Brigades said, adding “the liberation of the Palestinian prisoners and Al-Aqsa Mosque are at the top of our priorities.”

“This military drill is a message to the Arab and Muslim worlds that Gaza is strong enough, and will not be defeated easily,” the senior leader noted while stressing that the resistance was the “strategic choice” of the Palestinian people to liberate their land.

Ayman Nofel, a senior leader in the Al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas’s military wing, stressed that “the Palestinian resistance factions send their messages to the friend and the enemy and that the Palestinian prisoners are at the top of our priorities.”

This is the second joint military drill held by the resistance factions, as the first, bearing the same name, was held in December 2020.

This came in the wake of a severe wave of attacks and violence carried out by extremist Israeli settlers against Palestinians in the occupied territories as well as by the Israeli occupation authorities against Palestinian prisoners.

This also came amid high tensions between Gaza and the occupation state as the Palestinian factions have refused linking Gaza’s reconstruction to the file of prisoners, as ‘Israel’ conditions the release of four Israelis held by Hamas for allowing the reconstruction of the Gaza.

Adalah: ‘Israel’ refuses to provide evidence for outlawing 6 Palestinian NGOs

Occupied Palestine (QNN)- The Six Palestinian human rights groups that was outlawed in October by ‘Israel’ demanded the occupation state to reveal all of the evidence forming the bases of the designations.

The legal team representing the six organizations sent a letter last week to the Israeli security authorities demanding that they reveal all of the evidence forming the bases of the designations, saying that “there is no justice, fairness or due process for the organizations, without access to these materials in their entirety in order to defend themselves.”

In a statement issued on December 27 by Adalah, The Legal Center for Arab Minority Rights in Israel, the group said that the six organizations “have repeatedly and publicly demanded the materials, with no response whatsoever.”

The six groups are currently represented by Adalah, Attorney Michael Sfard, and Attorney Avigdor Feldman.

Adalah added that Israel’s outlawing of the six human rights groups aims to “delegitimize and discredit the work of these groups, placing the organizations, their staff, and their supporters in danger of criminal charges.”

“The organizations did not receive any information prior to the issuance of the designation orders, and no warnings despite the immediate and severe implications of the designations.”

“To date, they have had no meaningful opportunity to review and challenge the bases of the designations, as no evidence has been provided to them,” Adalah noted.

On 19 October 2021, Israeli War Minister, Benny Gantz, designated six leading Palestinian human rights and civil society groups as “terrorist organizations” under Israel’s domestic Counter-Terrorism (Anti-Terror) Law (2016).

The six groups are: Addameer, Al-Haq, Bisan Center for Research and Development, Defence for Children International – Palestine (DCI-P), the Union of Agricultural Work Committees (UAWC), and the Union of Palestinian Women’s Committees (UPWC).

The Israeli military commander also outlawed all six groups under the 1945 Emergency (Defense) Regulations, declaring them “unlawful associations”.

In its statement, Adalah said that the six organizations “remain steadfast in their efforts to fight against Israel’s illegal and illegitimate attack to silence the Palestinian people and their struggle for justice.”

Several UN human rights experts, civil society and development organizations, academics and more from around the world have condemned, over the past two months, Israel’s designations, standing in solidarity with the six Palestinian groups and increasing their support for the Palestinian cause.

Video| Israeli forces arrest 25 Palestinians during pre-dawn raid on Hizma town

Occupied Jerusalem (QNN)- Israeli occupation forces arrested 25 Palestinian residents of Hizma town, north-east the occupied city of Jerusalem, during a pre-dawn raid of the town on Thursday.

Local sources said large number of Israeli occupation soldiers raided the Hizma town in the predawn hours of Thursday, broke into and searching dozens of Palestinian houses, before arresting 25 Palestinians, including ex-detainees in Israeli jails, teachers, parents and their sons.

Hizma town has been subjected to aggressive violations by Israeli occupation forces, including raids, arrests and house demolition. Its entrances have been closed for nearly three weeks by the forces.

The town is home to some 7,000 people and lies between Jerusalem and Ramallah. To the west, on land expropriated from Hizma, ‘Israel’ established the illegal settlement of Pisgat Ze’ev and the apartheid wall, which runs right by the town.
