Israel completes advanced fence on the border of Gaza

Last week Israeli inaugurated the upgraded, technologically advanced 40-mile (65-kilometer) fence along the seperation fence with Gaza Strip. 

The massive construction project cost $1.1 billion and began in 2017 to separate “Israel” from Gaza. 

“There is no place in the world that has built an underground barrier. It was a very complex project, both operationally and engineering-wise.” Israeli Occupation Fence Administration Director Brig.-Gen. Eran Ofirsaid.

Israel still spends billions of dollars annually in developing its defense system on the border with the Gaza Strip, while Gaza does not have any single means of defense despite the repeated Israeli wars on the Gaza Strip.

It is worth mentioning that Israel has one of the world’s most modernised armies equipped with a nuclear arsenal. On the other hand, Palestinians, having no real state and regular army, don’t have much to defend themselves.Since 2008, more than 4,000 Palestinians have been killed in the wars on Gaza, according to the U.N., Thousands have been injured.

Israel, has repeatedly hit the Strip with overwhelming firepower that, despite its high-tech precision, continues to kill civilians.

All told, the wars have done more than $5 billion in damage to Gaza’s buildings, roads, electrical and water systems, roughly double the Strip’s annual economic output. Nearly 250,000 homes have been damaged or destroyed.
