Palestinian protest in occupied Haifa against femicide

Occupied Haifa (QNN)- Dozens of Palestinians in occupied Haifa protested today against femicide, however, Israeli cops cracked down on the protest, according to Al Jarmaq.

The protesters carried pictures of victims of femicides, as well as, placards with slogans calling for protecting women and their rights.

The protest is part of a 16-day-long campaign to combat violence against women. The campaign, which started on the 25th of this month, will organize protests in eight areas in the 1948-occupied territories, in which native Palestinians are concentrated.

In 2021, 15 Palestinian women were killed, mostly by their relatives or spouses.

Last week, the “Women Against Violence” association said that the Israeli police deal with crimes against Palestinian women in a discriminatory manner. It explained noting that the conviction rate in crimes against Palestinian women is only 34%, while the sentences periods for those convicted barely reach five years.

Meanwhile, the conviction rate in crimes against Israeli women reach 75%and the lowest sentence for those convicted was 14 to 18 years.
