Gaza post – Israeli occupation forces shot on Thursday and injured a Palestinian in al-Yamun town, west of Jenin, according to local sources.
Sources stated that Israeli soldiers opened fire at a young man adjacent to Israel’s wall, west of the northern West Bank city, hitting him in the shoulder.
The victim was moved to a hospital in Jenin. However, no information was available about his condition.
Such shootings occur when Palestinians attempt to enter Israel for work.
Hundreds of Palestinians work in Israel without a permit and often the occupation chase them and arrest them before sending them back to the occupied West Bank where work is more scarce than in Israel and pay is much less.
Every day, a large number of Palestinians, particularly construction workers, pass through the checkpoint, creating extreme overcrowding and often forcing them to wait for hours in line due to inspection procedures that require each person to pass through metal turnstiles one-at-a-time.
Israeli severely restricts Palestinians’ freedom of movement through a complex network of approximately 100 fixed checkpoints, flying checkpoints, settler-only roads, and other physical impediments.
