Illegal Israeli settlers cut down on Sunday dozens of olive trees in the village of Burin in the occupied West Bank region of Nablus according to local sources.
The villagers were astonished to learn in the morning that settlers from the nearby Israeli colonial town of Yitzhar had hacked down dozens of their olive trees, according to Ghassan Daghlas, who monitors Israeli settlement activity in the area.
The incident occurs as Palestinian farmers around the country prepare for the annual olive harvest season, which begins in early October each year.
Settler violence against Palestinian people has increased in previous years during the vital olive harvest season, despite being practically everyday.
For thousands of Palestinian homes in the occupied territories, the olive harvest is one of the most significant seasons, as the season’s success determines their income.
