Occupied Jerusalem (QNN)- Israeli occupation forces in the early morning hours of Friday harassed Palestinian worshipers in their way to the Al-Aqsa Mosque in the occupied city of Jerusalem, obstructed and prevented their access to the mosque.
The forces obstructed the movement of the Palestinian worshipers by seizing their identity documents while in their way to enter the mosque to perform the Al-Fajr prayer (the dawn prayer).
They also prevented hundreds of Palestinians who came from the occupied West Bank to pray from entering the mosque. Thus they were forced to pray in the Bab al-Amud plaza.
The forces also brutally beat the 13-year-old Palestinian child Sohiab abu Nab while he was in his way to the mosque. Abu Nab was also beaten, a few days ago, by the forces in the head near Bab Huta gate, one of the mosque’s gates.
Every Friday, Palestinians from all over the occupied Jerusalem gather in the al-Aqsa mosque and pray al-Fajr. However, the Israeli forces always harass, detain, attack and obstruct their movement to the mosque.
The Al-Aqsa mosque is one of the holiest sites in Islam. It was also Islam’s first Qibla, the direction towards which Muslims must turn to pray, before it was changed to Mecca.
Jews refer to the area as the Temple Mount, claiming it was the site of two prominent Jewish temples in ancient times. The complex also includes the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, one of the most sacred Christian sites in the world.
Moreover, Israeli occupation authorities allow settler incursions to the mosque since 2003 under the forces protection, despite repeated objections and warnings by the Palestinian religious authorities as the visits provoke worshippers of the mosque.
Israeli forces always facilitate and protect the settlers breaking into the holy site while preventing Palestinian worshipers from entering it, assaulting and detaining them.
