Palestinian security forces on Sunday arrested senior Islamic Jihad leader Kheder Adnan, according to a human rights group, reports Anadolu Agency.

Adnan was detained during his participation in a protest in the West Bank city of Ramallah to demand the release of activists held during a rally to call for bringing killers of political activist Nizar Banat to justice, the Lawyers for Justice group said.

Adnan was repeatedly detained by Israeli forces and had staged several hunger strikes to protest his detention.

In 2012, Adnan staged a 66-day hunger strike in protest of his detention, forcing Israeli authorities to release him. He staged similar hunger strikes in 2015 and 2018.

There was no comment from the Palestinian Authority on the report.

On Saturday, Palestinian security forces banned a protest in Ramallah to call for bringing Banat’s killers to accountability.

Banat, 44, died in custody shortly after being arrested by Palestinian security forces.

According to the NGO, more than 120 Palestinians were arrested by Palestinian security forces since Banat’s killing in May.

Israel bulldozes Palestinian land to make way for settler road

Israeli occupation forces today bulldozed a vast tract of land in Qalqilya in order to expand a settler road.

Local official Mohamed Abul-Sheikh said that the Israeli army started to expand Road 55, which was built illegally in the area between Qalqilya and Nablus.

In 2019, the Israeli army announced its intent to seize about 166 dunums (41 acres) of land in the area in order to expand the road, Abul-Sheikh added.

According to the Israeli plan, this project will be carried out on lands seized from Azzun town, Nabi Ilyas village and Qalqilya city.

Israeli Forces Prevent Palestinian Road Project; Confiscate Vehicles

On Saturday, Israeli forces in the northern part of the West Bank invaded the Tulkarem District and stopped the Palestinian Department of Agriculture from carrying out a road rehabilitation project.

The Israeli forces then confiscated the Palestinian bulldozers that were being used for the project.

The attack took place in the village of al-Jarushiyya, north of Tulkarem in the West Bank.

Bahaa Khader with the Palestinian Ministry of Agriculture told the Palestinian Wafa News Agency that the Israeli troops invaded the site of the project, harassed and attacked the workers, and confiscated the equipment.

In addition to seizing the bulldozers, the soldiers also detained the drivers of the bulldozers, and a contractor hired to lead the project.

The land on which the project was taking place was Palestinian land, owned by local farmers.

When the soldiers attacked the workers, a scuffle broke out, as the workers tried to stop the soldiers from taking their equipment.

A similar attack took place in the southern West Bank on Saturday, when a squadron of Israeli soldiers attacked Palestinian land surveyors in Masafer Yatta village, in the Hebron District.

According to local sources, a group of Palestinian technicians from the Land Settlement Authority were surveying land in the Umm al-Shaqhan area of Masafer Yatta village when they were attacked by invading Israeli soldiers.

The Israeli troops fired tear gas at the technicians, causing several of them to suffer from tear gas inhalation.

The location where the surveyors were working was near the illegal Israeli settlement of Avigal, constructed on stolen Palestinian land.

Former Political Prisoner Dies During Medical Treatment In Turkey

The Palestinian Prisoners’ Society (PPS) has reported that a former political prisoner, who was held by Israel and denied medical treatment, has died while receiving the needed medical attention in Turkey.

Montaser Sammour, the head of the PPS office in Jenin, in northern West Bank, said the deceased man has been identified as Mohammad Hasan Shabrawi, from Jenin refugee camp.

Sammour added that Shabrawi was imprisoned by Israel for five years (2013-2018) and was denied the needed medical treatment for his liver disease while in detention, an issue that caused him serious complications.

Despite being released three years ago, and undergoing treatment in the West Bank, Shabrawi faced numerous complications, before he was transferred to a hospital in Turkey, and was supposed to undergo and kidney transplant, but died on Sunday.

PPS: “Nine Palestinian Detainees Continue Hunger Strike”

The Palestinian Prisoners’ Society (PPS) has reported that nine political prisoners, held by Israel under the arbitrary Administrative Detention orders without charges or trial, are ongoing with the hunger strike.

The PPS said the Israeli Prison Authority has been preventing the detainees from visiting with their families and even their lawyers, in addition to forcing them in solitary confinement under difficult conditions to force them to end their strikes.

It added that the soldiers repeatedly attack the detainees, and constantly move them between various prisons, to exert more pressure on them.

The PPS stated that one of the detainees, identified as Salem Zeidat, was the first to start the strike 42 days ago, while Mojahed Hamed began the strike 40 days ago.

The PPS held Israel responsible for the lives of the detainees, especially since they are facing serious complications, but are determined to continue the strike demanding their freedom, or at least to face charges.

It is worth mentioning that most of the hunger-striking detainees have held several hunger strikes this year, and most of them are also former political prisoners who spent years in Israeli prisons, and many of them went on strikes in previous years.

Israel is holding captive 4750 Palestinians, including 550 who are held under the arbitrary Administrative Detention orders. Among the imprisoned Palestinians are 200 children and 42 women.

The Detainees who holding hunger strikes are:

  1. Salem Zeidat, from Bani Neim – Hebron, began the strike 42 days ago.
  2. Mojahed Hamed, from Silwad – Ramallah, began the strike 40 days ago.
  3. Kayed al-Fasfous, from Doura – Hebron, began the strike 39 days ago.
  4. Akram al-Fasfous (Kayed’s brother), began the strike 18 days ago.
  5. Miqdad al-Qawasma, Hebron, began the strike 32 days ago.
  6. Ahmad Hamamra, from Bethlehem, began the strike 23 days ago.
  7. Ala’ al-A’raj, from Tulkarem, began the strike 15 days ago.
  8. Hisham Abu Hawwash, from Hebron, started the strike 6 days ago.
  9. Omar Kamel al-Ja’bari, from Jenin, started the strike 5 days ago.

Israeli Colonizers Burn Palestinian Olive Trees Near Nablus

Dozens of illegal Israeli colonizers invaded, on Monday at dawn, a Palestinian orchard in Burin town, south of the northern West Bank city of Nablus, and burnt dozens of olive trees.

Eyewitnesses said the Israeli assailants came from the illegal Yitzhar colony, built on stolen Palestinian lands, before burning dozens of olive trees.

They added that the invaded orchard is owned by Akram Omran, and is located in the southern area of the village.

After burning the trees, the colonizers ran to their illegal colony, while the Palestinians rushed to the orchard to extinguish the fire.

On Sunday at night, dozens of colonizers invaded the al-Mas’odiyya archeological area, norther of Nablus.

Mohammad Azem, the mayor of Sebtastia town, said the colonizers invaded the area, where the ruins of ancient buildings stand, on the opposite side of the archeological site in the town.

He added that the colonizers announced their intentions to invade the area several days ago, and were accompanied by many Israeli soldiers.

Israeli Soldiers Invade Several Shops Near Jenin

Israeli soldiers invaded, on Sunday evening, the village of al-‘Arqa, west of the northern West Bank city of Jenin, before storming and ransacking many shops, leading to protests.

Eyewitnesses said the soldiers invaded and violently searched many shops, causing excessive damage, before inspecting surveillance recordings, in addition to interrogating the shop owners.

They added that many Palestinian youngsters protested the invasion, and hurled stones at the soldiers who fired many gas bombs and concussion grenades, in addition to rubber-coated steel bullets.

Medical sources said several Palestinians suffered the effects of tear gas inhalation and received the needed treatment by local medics.

Soldiers Abduct Two Palestinian Men, Detain Child, In Hebron

Israeli soldiers abducted, early on Tuesday morning, two young Palestinian men and detained a child, in Hebron, in the southern part of the occupied West Bank.

Medical sources said the soldiers abducted Khalil Mousa al-Harbawi, 29, after invading his home and ransacking it, causing damage.

They added that the soldiers detained a child, identified as Malek Abu Hitta, 13, in the al-Masharfa at-Tihta neighborhood, in the Old City of Hebron, after stopping him at a military roadblock near the Ibrahimi Mosque.

Furthermore, the soldiers abducted Bahjat Mousa Nawaj’a, from Yatta town, south of Hebron, after stopping him at a military roadblock in the al-Fahs area at the southern entrance of Hebron city.

Israeli Soldiers Abduct Four Palestinians, Assault Father, In Tulkarem, Qaqilia, Ramallah And Salfit

Israeli soldiers abducted, earlier Monday, four Palestinians, and assaulted the father of one of them, causing various wounds, in Salfit, Tulkarem, Qalqilia, and Ramallah, in the occupied West Bank.

The Salfit office of the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society (PPS), in central West Bank, said the soldiers abducted Abdullah Nash’at, 32, from Salfit city, while working on a Palestinian land, owned by Fayez Abdul-Dayem, in the al-Ras area, west of Salfit city.

Media sources in Tulkarem, in northern West Bank, said several army jeeps invaded the eastern neighborhood of the city, before storming and ransacking homes, and abducted Mohammad Jawdat Shahrour, 24.

The soldiers also abducted Ayman Mohammad Ali, 46, from Kufur Qaddoum town, east of the northern West Bank city of Qalqilia, after stopping him at a sudden military roadblock near Jinsafut village, east of Qalqilia.

In related news, Israeli colonizers hurled stones at a Palestinian car near Kafr Laqif village, east of Qalqilia, causing damage.

In Ramallah, in central West Bank, the soldiers invaded Bir Zeit town, north of the city, before storming homes, and abducted Mousa Marwan Housha, 28, in addition to assaulting his father.

Medical sources said the father, Marwan, was moved to the Istishari Medical Center in Ramallah, after suffering various cuts and bruises.

In related news, the Israeli army said its soldiers abducted a Palestinian man after crossing the perimeter fence, in the Gaza Strip, before they took him to an interrogation facility.

Also at dawn, illegal Israeli colonizers invaded a Palestinian orchard in Burin town, south of the northern West Bank city of Nablus, and burnt dozens of olive trees.

Israeli Colonizers Install Outpost on Palestinian Lands Near Salfit

A group of illegal Israeli colonizers installed, Monday, an outpost on privately-owned Palestinian lands west of Deir Istiya town, north of Salfit, in Central West Bank.

Local nonviolent activist against the illegal Israeli colonialist activities in Salfit, Nathmi Salman, stated that dozens of colonizers invaded the lands near Hariqat Abu Zoheir area, west of Deir Istiya, and installed two sheds.

He added that the colonizers also bulldozed surrounding lands to prepare for a new street, and conducted infrastructure work, including hooking the illegal outpost with electricity.

Salman also stated that the colonizers invaded the lands a few days ago, and bulldozed several sections in preparation for installing the illegal outpost.

It is worth mentioning that the invaded lands where the illegal outpost was installed are close to the illegal Yakir and Havat Yair colonies, which were built on stolen Palestinian lands.

All of Israel’s colonies in the occupied West Bank, including those in and around occupied East Jerusalem, are illegal under International Law, the Fourth Geneva Convention in addition to various United Nations and Security Council resolutions. They also constitute war crimes under International Humanitarian Law.
