Soldiers Assault Palestinian Protestors in northern Jordan Valley, Detain One

Palestinians who protested the illegal expropriation of a spring by Israeli settlers, Tuesday, were pepper-sprayed, while one was detained by Israeli soldiers in the Ein al-Hilwa area of the northern Jordan Valley, according to a local official.

Head of the Wall and Settlements Resistance Commission, Walid Assaf, told Palestinian WAFA News Agency that the army physically assaulted several peaceful demonstrators, pepper-sprayed others, and detained one, taking him to an undisclosed location.

The non-violent assembly was organized by the commission to resist and object to the illegal takeover of a water spring, located on Palestinian lands, and utilized by local shepherds to water their sheep.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) reported that four demonstrators were treated at the scene after soldiers pepper-sprayed them in the face.

Assaf, was one of the individuals who suffered the severe effects of pepper-spray to the face, after soldiers attacked him.

He vowed to persist in the fight against the expropriation of Palestinian lands by illegal colonial settlers.

It is important to note that armed colonial settlers were present at the scene.

On Sunday, Israeli settlers installed a fence around the water spring in the Northern Plains of the occupied West Bank, before preventing the Palestinian shepherds from using it to water their herd.

On Tuesday, a group of illegal colonizers, began the construction of a new outpost around the water spring, under the full protection of the Israeli army.
