Two Palestinian brothers enter their 29th year in Israeli jails

Days of Palestine – Ramallah – Two Palestinian prisoners, Abdul-Jawad Shamasneh (57 years) and his brother Muhammad (51 years), from the town of Qatanna, are among the old prisoners who have been detained before the signing of the Oslo Agreement

The Palestinian Prisoner Society said in a statement that Mohammad Shamasneh and Abdel-Jawad from the twon of Qatanna in the occupied West Bank, were arrested on this day in 1993, and was sentenced to a life in prison.

For five years now, the two have been deprived of their right to family visitation of their mother, who is a sick old woman, and one of them, Abdel-Jawad, is also denied family visitation of his two sons by the occupation authorities.

According to Palestinian estimates, there are 4,400 Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons, including 39 women and 155 children, and around 350 being held under Israel’s administrative detention policy, which allows holding Palestinians without charge or trial.
