Jerusalem_Gaza post – Israeli occupation police assaulted on Saturday hundreds of Palestinian worshipers as they left the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound through Damascus Gate in the occupied capital Jerusalem , injuring nine and detaining one according to local sources.
During the attack, Israeli police officers were seen shooting stun grenades and teargas canisters at worshipers and chasing them through the Damascus Gate area, as well as assaulting some of them physically.According to reports, nine worshipers suffered minor injuries.
Since the start of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan five days ago, Israeli police have prohibited any gatherings near the Damascus Gate, while allowing gatherings for Israeli settlers in other parts of the holy city.
Since the beginning of Ramadan, the Damascus Gate sector, which leads to the Old City of Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque complex, has been a scene of regular clashes with Israeli occupation, due to the Israeli occupation authorities’ numerous restrictions on Palestinian worshipers’ access to the Mosque.
