IOA forces Palestinian to raze cattle sheds in J’lem

Jerusalemite family threatened with displacement in Silwan

Demolition policy

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC) – The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) on Saturday forced a Palestinian citizen to demolish cattle sheds and ordered a family to evacuate its home in Silwan district, east Jerusalem.

According to the Wadi Hilweh Information Center, the Israeli municipality forced Omar Siyam to raze his own cattle sheds in Silwan at the pretext of unlicensed construction.

A Jerusalemite family also received a notice from the municipality ordering it to evacuate its house in Baten al-Hawa neighborhood in Silwan.

The IOA always threatens to make Palestinian homeowners incur exorbitant demolition expenses and fines if it comes to carry out the demolitions, forcing them to raze or remove their own homes.

The Jerusalemites have no choice but to build without licenses because there are no structural maps that respond to the natural increase in their numbers, and for that reason, they are denied house permits.

The IOA also imposes building restrictions on the Palestinian natives in Jerusalem and makes it hard for them to obtain construction licenses.

Israel’s systematic demolition of Palestinian homes in Occupied Jerusalem is believed to be aimed at psychologically destroying the Jerusalemite families in an attempt to force them to move from the holy city.
