Days of Palestine – Hebron – Israeli occupation forces injured a woman with a gas bomb, detained an elderly man, and caused dozens of tear gas suffocation cases today, Friday, during a march in Yatta, south of Hebron.
Local sources reported that hundreds of Palestinians performed The Friday prayer at the entrance to the village of Latwanah, in solidarity with the people of that region who are being subjected to constant attacks by the occupation forces and settlers, and to reject the occupation’s policy of ethnic cleansing against its residents.
The sources added that the march, in which many foreign peace activists participated, began after performing the prayer, during which the Palestinian flag and slogans condemning the Israeli occupation and its crimes were raised, and the participants affirmed their full solidarity with the region families in their confrontation of the occupation.
The sources added that the occupation forces attacked the protesters, beat them, and fired tear gas canisters at them, which led to the injury of a woman with a teargas canister in the foot, and dozens of suffocation cases, in addition to the detention of the elderly Suleiman al-Hathalin.
The occupation forces had closed all the entrances to the village of Latwanah, in an attempt to prevent this event from taking place.
The coordinator of the Protection and Resilience Committee in Yatta, Fouad al-Amor, said that the escalations and assaults in Yatta area these days are aimed at intimidating Palestinian citizens, pressuring them and displacing them from their lands, in favor of expanding the settlements established on their lands.
It is to be mentioned that the occupation’s threats and settlement ambitions affect the inhabitants of the area, where 3 thousand citizens reside in 38,500 dunams, located in the hills overlooking the northern Negev.
