Three Palestinian civilians, on Friday, were shot and injured by Israeli soldiers at the weekly march against the illegal construction and expansion of settlements in Kufur Qaddoum village, east of Qalqilia, in the northern occupied West Bank.
Morad Eshteiwi, the coordinator of the Popular Committee in Kufur Qaddoum, told Palestinian WAFA News Agency that Israeli soldiers fired rubber-coated steel rounds and tear-gas canisters at the protesters, injuring three of them with rubber-coated steel bullets, while causing many others to suffer the toxic effects of tear-gas inhalation.
All the protesters who sustained injuries received medical assistance on the scene.
In 2002, the Israeli occupation sealed off the main road in the village, a direct road allowing local Palestinians to travel east to Nablus city. The road is now exclusively used by the nearby illegal Israeli settlers.
For many years, locals in the area have been staging demonstrations every Friday to call on Israel to open the road, and to resist the occupation’s colonial aspirations.
