72 Palestinian victim of violence of Israel amidst accusations of police apathy

A 20-year-old Palestinian youth from the village of Yarka inside Israel was shot dead today making him victim number 72 this year of violence in Palestinians communities in Israel as residents accuse the police of total apathy and lack of interest in cracking down on crime or proliferation of illegal weapons in the Palestinian towns and villages in Israel.

Reports said 13 women were among the 72 victims.

Two Palestinians were killed last month from the same family in the same village, said the reports.

Palestinians in Israel, who make up about 20 percent of the population, have called on the police to take a more active role to put an end to murder in the Palestinian areas in Israel, accusing the police of discriminating in their treatment between Arab and Jewish towns.
