His vital body organs might stop functioning anytime as he refuses to take food supplements
Palestinian administrative detainee in Israeli jails, Maher al-Akhras, 49, in critical condition after 92 days of hunger strike demanding his freedom, according to his attorney and family members.
He is suffering from in his eyes and he almost lost ability to see things very close to him. He became completely unable to stand up as he is suffering pain all over his body.
There are concerns that the vital organs of his body might stop functioning as he refuses to take food supplements.
Al-Akhras, from the city of Jenin in the north of the West Bank, was detained on July 27 and slammed with a four-month administrative detention order. He immediately went on hunger strike in protest against his illegal incarceration.
Efforts are still underway to get an Israeli High Court order which clearly announces an end to his administrative detention, instead of only suspending it in return for ending his hunger strike, as has been the case so far prompting al-Akhras to reject the deal.
