Police raid Issawiya, clash with Jerusalemite youths
RAMALLAH, (PIC) – The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) at dawn Sunday kidnaped several Palestinian young men during violent clashes with local youths in Silwad town, east of Ramallah.
According to local sources in Ramallah, the IOF stormed Silwad town and its refugee camp and clashed with dozens of local youths, who hurled stones at the soldiers.
During the events, the IOF intensively fired tear gas and stun grenades at the youths, closed the western entrance to the town and called for reinforcements. The IOF also flew a surveillance drone over the area.
Four young men were reportedly ambushed and rounded up as the clashes started to heat up.
Local sources described the Silwad clashes as the most violent in years and affirmed that windows of several IOF patrol cars sustained damage in the events.
In Jerusalem, similar clashes erupted in Issawiya district after Israeli police forces stormed its western area.
Eyewitnesses said that local youths threw stones, empty bottles and homemade fire bombs at the police forces who were randomly firing tear gas grenades in the area.
One police officer had an injury when an empty bottle hit his head during the skirmishes.
