At least one Palestinian civilian was shot and injured, Friday, when Israeli forces fired rubber-coated steel rounds at protesters taking part in the weekly Kufur Qaddoum in the northern West Bank, according to a local official.
Morad Eshteiwi, the coordinator of the Popular Committee in Kufur Qaddoum, told Palestinian WAFA News Agency that Israeli soldiers fired rubber-coated steel rounds and tear-gas canisters at the protesters, injuring one of them with a steel round, while many others suffered the effects of tear-gas inhalation.
All injuries were treated on site by local medics.
Local villagers have been protesting every Friday for 17 years to express their rejection of all illegal Israeli settlements, as well as to demand that Israeli authorities reopen the village’s main road to Nablus city, which was sealed off to Palestinians, but used exclusively by illegal colonial settlers, since 2002.
