24 Israeli violations against journalists last July

Occupied Palestine (QNN)- The Ministry of Information said it has recorded 24 Israeli violations against Palestinian journalists last July.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the ministry stated that the Israeli army directly targeted eight journalists, three media institutions, several news crews, and dozens of news accounts and pages.

In the same vein, the Israeli authorities sent journalist Mujahed Sa’di to administrative detention for four years although of his poor health condition and being medically neglected.

Israeli authorities also held the correspondence of the Anadolu Agency (AA) Qais Abu Samra for three hours while he was passing through a military checkpoint near the Nabi Saleh village in Ramallah.

Journalist Ahmad Abu Sbeih from Jerusalem was also summoned for interrogation.

During last July, Israeli forces broke into three media institutions in occupied Jerusalem (The Arab Studies Society, Yabous Cultural Centre, and Edward Said National Conservatory of Music) and confiscated equipment.

The ministry added that the Israeli army stormed the place where the correspondent of Al Ghad TV, Raed Sharif, was working then targeted him with stun grenades during an alive report about the Covid-19 pandemic.

Journalist Ahmad Arouri was suffocated when Israeli forces tear-gassed journalists to prevent them from covering events in the village of Kifl Haris in Salfit.

The Israeli army also targeted the crew of Palestine TV. using tear gas canisters and stun grenades to prevent them from covering an event in the village of Asirah in Nablus.

A group of journalists was reportedly prevented from covering prayers that were performed on the JomJomah mountain in Halhoul.

Concerning violations on social media, under Israeli pressure, Facebook deleted dozens of news pages that unveiled Israeli violations against Palestinians.
