Medic and 55-year-old Man Killed, Journalists Shot at Gaza Protests

Gaza, – On the 20th Friday of the Great Return March  demonstrations, Israeli Occupation snipers killed a volunteer paramedic and 55-year-old man in Eastern Rafah near the Separation Fence between Israel and Gaza.

A total of 242 were reported injured, 70 of them with gunshot wounds, including 26 minors, four other medics and two journalists.

The Ministry of Health announced the death of 24-year-old volunteer paramedic Abdullah Elqitati from a gunshot wound to the chest and 55-year-old Ali Sa-red Aloul. Journalist Mahmoud Bassam received shrapnel from a bullet in his ear. Israeli forces opened fire on unarmed protestors at the Al-Awa Camp East of Khan Younes in the Southern Gaza Strip.

For the first time since the Great Return March started on March 30th, Israeli forces opened fire at the protesters with tanks. According to writer Ibrahim Abu Musallam, “this new tactic is being used by the Israeli authories to keep protesters from coming back. They see that the protesters won’t give up and that more and more are coming every Friday” he added.
