Israeli forces arrest Palestinian writer Lama Khater
Hamas said that Israel’s detention of female Palestinian writer Lama Khater in the occupied West Bank is a “desperate attempt to silence free speech”, Quds Press reported yesterday.
“The detention of Lama Khater proves the failure of the security cooperation between the Palestinian Authority (PA) and Israel to protect the Palestinian people and their freedoms,” member of Hamas’ Political Bureau Musa Dodeen said.
“The PA’s security cooperation with Israel offers a cover for the Israeli aggression, crimes and brutality against our people.”
Dodeen stressed that the “dangerous escalation” against Palestinian women in the occupied West Bank would never succeed to deter the Palestinian resistance and “its roots planted in the souls of the Palestinians.”
The senior Hamas official also said that the increasing Israeli aggression against Palestinians “fuels the resistance against the occupation.”
Israeli occupation forces arrested four Palestinian women in 45 days, including Khater, whose detention was recorded by cameras as she gave a very sad farewell to her two-year-old child while surrounded by heavily armed Israeli occupation forces during late on Monday night.
