Palestinians mobilize to confront extremist Jewish break-ins of al-Aqsa

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)– Palestinian national and religious figures called upon Palestinians to head to al-Aqsa Mosque in large numbers in response to the Jewish extremists’ call to break into the Mosque in commemoration of the so-called Tisha B’Av on August 14. The Palestinian figures also condemned the Israeli occupation’s increasing violations of al-Aqsa Mosque and warned that such acts may result in a religious war. They pointed out that the Israeli government is trying to take control over the Mosque, stripping Jordan of its authority over it. Attempts to impose a new reality Head of the Supreme Islamic Council in occupied Jerusalem Sheikh Ikrima Sabri denounced the Israeli extremist calls and asked Muslims to “protect al-Aqsa Mosque from the intruders”. He stated that such Israeli calls are repeated on their religious events to impose a new status quo. Sheikh Sabri said that the Israeli police try to deprive al-Awqaf Council of running the Mosque, calling it an unprecedented violation. Sheikh Sabri said, “This is a further violation as the Israeli occupation has already taken control over the gates of al-Aqsa Mosque and prevented the restoration and maintenance materials from getting into the Mosque. And it is now trying to supervise the restoration of the Dome of the Rock.” He condemned the Israeli arrest of the engineers and workers of the reconstruction of the Dome of the Rock committee. He viewed that as a blatant challenge of Jordan, and the Arab world in general. Religious and national duty Sheikh Abdul Azim Salhab, President of the Council of the Islamic Waqf in Jerusalem, confirmed that the extremist Jewish break-ins are backed by the right-wing extremist government to target Muslims in their faith and most precious sanctities. Sheikh Salhab said, “The extremist Jewish threats to storm [al-Aqsa Mosque] in what they call Jewish holidays may trigger a religious war… Israel is responsible for the break-ins that hurt the feelings of all Muslims worldwide.” “Palestinians stand together in the face of the attack and they won’t leave al-Aqsa Mosque to be an easy prey for the extremist Jews,” he added. Facing Israel with silence! Head of the High Commission for the support of Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa, Sheikh Mohammad al-Arif, pointed out that al-Aqsa Mosque is facing daily incursions that target the Mosque and the Muslim worshipers. He said that there are calls, by a number of Jewish organizations, for a massive break-in of the Mosque in commemoration of what is called Tisha B’Av, which is marked next Sunday. Al-Arif blamed the Jordanian officials for remaining silent and stated that its time for them to confront the Israel occupation. Hatem Abdul Qader, a former Palestinian minister who holds Fatah’s Jerusalem portfolio, stated, “UNESCO and all international institutions approved that al-Aqsa Mosque is a red line that Israel can’t mess up with.”
