A senior member of Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood, Saad Al-Husseini, revealed in court that the coup leaders have offered to release Muslim Brotherhood leaders and members of Egypt’s Anti-coup alliance from prison in exchange for recognising the coup.
Husseini, who is currently imprisoned along with a number of senior members and leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood, told the court: “We can leave prison now and very easily. We choose to stay in prison because the price of our freedom is to accept the theft of Egypt.”
Husseini served as the governor of Kafr Al-Sheirkh during President Mohamed Morsi’s rule.
He explained to the court: “the coup leaders have offered to release us, as well as all the opponents of the coup, from prison and to settle our disagreements dozens of times, but we refused because the price would be to accept their hijacking of Egypt’s democracy.”
