The European bank Nordea announced Thursday its decision to exclude the Cemex company from the Nordea Investment Management’s investment universe. In the announcement, Nordea states that “The company operates in violation of international norms related to human rights. CEMEX extracts non-renewable resources from occupied territory”.
Cemex is a holding company engaged, through its operating subsidiaries, in the production, distribution, marketing and salte of cement, ready-mix concrete, aggregates and clinker.
The Israeli group Who Profits reports that Cemex owns the Israeli Readymix Industries, which has factories in the occupied West Bank, owns a quarry for aggregates in the West Bank, and has provided concrete elements for construction of infrastructure in the West Bank.
