Fatah students hang effigy of Qatari emir in elections debate

TULKAREM (Ma’an) — Fatah-affiliated students hanged an effigy of Qatar’s emir on Monday at a student elections debate in Tulkarem.

The Palestine Technical University will vote in 33 new student union representatives on Tuesday, and a public pre-election debate was staged at the northern West Bank campus.

Fatah students hanged the effigy of Sheikh Hamad Ibn Khalifa al-Thani in protest at the Qatari emir’s policies in the region. Fatah is running on a joint list with Fida and the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine.

Meanwhile, Hamas students presented a model of a Qassam projectile and delivered speeches highlighting the movement’s achievements over the last year.
