Israeli attack injures two Palestinians

An Israeli tank fire has wounded at least two Palestinians in the central part of the blockaded Gaza Strip, according to medical sources.

The attack happened east of the Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza in the early hours of Friday.

Palestinian medics confirmed that two Palestinian men were moderately wounded by the tank fire.

An Israeli military spokeswoman said Israeli tanks fired at a group of Palestinians, accusing them of attempting to plant explosives along the border fence.

The Israeli military frequently attacks the Gaza Strip, saying the actions are being conducted for defensive purposes.

However, disproportionate force is always used, in violation of international law, and civilians are often killed or injured.

Gaza has been blockaded since 2007, a situation which has led to a decline in the standard of living, unprecedented levels of unemployment, and unrelenting poverty.
