Sudanese press: Netanyahu to visit South Sudan

KHARTOUM, (PIC)– Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu is to visit the South Sudan republic soon to forge a number of economic and military agreements of strategic importance, Sudanese press reported.

Sudanese journalist Abbas Al-Ashari said in a report published by the Sudanese media on Friday that Netanyahu would try and win economic and military contracts in addition to have a share in water projects on the Nile.

He said, quoting unnamed observers, that Netanyahu would also conclude agreements for the sale of weapons to South Sudan and build military watchtowers along the borders with the Sudan, and an air base.

The observers said that Israel would try to forge an alliance with a number of Christian countries in Africa to counter the Islamists’ rise in some of the Arab countries in the continent.
