Israeli army major ‘sold heroin’ on border

TEL AVIV, Israel (Ma’an) — The Israeli army has indicted an officer who holds the rank of major after he was found to have sold large amounts of heroin while on duty, news reports said.

The Israeli news site Ynet said the officer, from the army’s Operations Directorate, is suspected of heading a “major drug ring” that sold narcotics smuggled into Israel through its southern border.

He was indicted at the Kastina military court, Ynet reported. He is accused of pocketing 2 million shekels all of which was laundered except for 330,000 which was allegedly recovered from his home.
