TEL AVIV, Israel (Ma’an) — A group of Turkish hackers hijacked Israeli websites on Sunday evening, local media reports said Tuesday. Some 350 sites were thought to be affected.
Israel’s Yedioth Ahronoth daily reported that that there was some concern that the hijacking was a “test-run” ahead of a major attack on Israeli domains, the newspaper’s English website said.
The hackers redirected traffic on some sites and shut down others.
Hackers calling themselves the “Turkish security group” took responsibility, Ynet reported.
“The hack represents a 10%-15% spike compared to the average number of daily hacks of Israeli websites,” Shai Blitzblau, head of a computer warfare research group, told the news site.
