Hamas resistance movement has called on neighbouring countries of the Middle East to “break their silence” and “end the siege of Gaza”, following a new Israeli bombardment of the Gaza Strip coinciding with the visit of US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to Israel as part of a regional tour.
The besieged Strip has borne the brunt of an escalation of military action, with almost daily bombings since 6 August, while it has been left with only four hours of electricity a day after Israel blocked fuel deliveries.
Fawzi Barhoum, Hamas spokesman, said the decision makers in the region must “break their silence” and start working on putting an end to the Israeli devastating siege of Gaza.
The continued Israel bombardment of the besieged Strip, preventing entry of building materials and fuel supplies into Gaza and imposing closure on its sea, are considered a crime against humanity and ongoing aggression against the Palestinians, said Barhoum.
Barhoum has held the Israeli occupation state fully responsible for any consequences resulting from its persistent military escalation against the Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip.
