GAZA, PALESTINOW.COM — The besieged Gaza Strip will be plunged into darkness as of Tuesday as its only power plant will not be able to provide electricity according to the daily supply schedule.
In a statement, the Palestinian power authority said the power plant would shut down its turbines tomorrow morning as the fuel needed to operate them started to run out.
The Israeli occupation army decided last Wednesday to ban entry of fuel shipments to Gaza as part of punitive measures taken in response to the launch of incendiary balloon towards Israeli areas.
The local authorities in Gaza say the flying of balloons carrying incendiaries towards Israel by young men are acts of protest against Israel’s failure to honor previous ceasefire pledges to ease the blockade on Gaza and its persistence in attacking fishermen.
