The Palestinian Authority (PA) has announced it is ready for “direct bilateral” talks with Israel and “limited” land exchange as alternative to the US’ ‘deal of the century’, news agencies reported yesterday.

The PA is “ready to resume direct bilateral negotiations where they stopped” in 2014, a close aide to PA Prime Minister Mohammed Shtayyeh told news sites including AFP.

“If Israel declares the annexation of any part of Palestinian territory, this will necessarily mean the annulling of all signed agreements,” the PA wrote in a four-page letter sent to the Middle East Quartet – UN, US, EU and Russia.

“We submitted a counter-proposal to the Quartet a few days ago,” the close aide said.

“No one has as much interest as the Palestinians in reaching a peace agreement, and no one has as much to lose as the Palestinians in the absence of peace,” the PA wrote in its proposal.

“We are ready to have our state with a limited number of weapons and a powerful police force to uphold law and order,” the PA explained.

OPINION: Annexation is still inadmissible, even by Israel

The PA pointed out that it would accept an international force such as NATO, mandated by the UN, to monitor its commitment under any agreement reached with Israel.

According to the PA, the proposal gives a solution for the planned Israeli annexation of large parts of the occupied West Bank which is expected to begin today.

Meanwhile, the proposal accepts “minor, mutually agreed border changes based on the 1967 borders.”

Jewish settlers protest West Bank annexation plan

Nearly 1,000 Jewish settlers took to a hilltop on the outskirts of the illegal Gush Etzion settlements in the occupied West Bank to voice their rejection of Israel’s annexation plan in line with US President Donald Trump’s ‘peace plan’

Nearly 1,000 Jewish settlers took to a hilltop on the outskirts of the illegal Gush Etzion settlements in the occupied West Bank to voice their rejection of Israel’s annexation plan in line with US President Donald Trump’s ‘peace plan’.

The rally was held in cooperation with the Nachala Settlement Movement. “We are against the establishing a Palestinian state,” director of the movement Daniela Weiss told Arutz Sheva. Demonstrators claimed the map issued by Trump’s ‘deal of the century‘ leaves Palestinians with 70 per cent of the occupied West Bank, vowing to build more settlements in occupied Palestinian territory.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has set 1 July as the day to start annexing the occupied West Bank and Jordan Valley.

Palestinians believe the plan will see the occupation state illegally seizing 30 per cent of the West Bank. They have said they are no longer bound by treaties agreed with Israel if annexation goes ahead.

“The EU won’t recognise the Israeli annexation move in the occupied West Bank,” Wasum-Rainer told reporters.

The EU and Germany recently described the plan as being “in violation of international law.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has set 1 July as the day to start annexing the occupied West Bank and Jordan Valley. Palestinians believe the plan will see the occupation state seizing 30 per cent of the West Bank.

As a result, the Palestinian Authority has said it is no longer bound by any of the treaties previously agreed with Israel.

Illegal Israeli Colonists Occupy Palestinian Lands In Hebron

A group of fanatic Israeli colonialist settlers, illegally squatting on Palestinian lands, invaded and occupied, on Tuesday evening, Palestinian lands on a hill near the bypass road at the entrance of Sa’ir town, east of Hebron, in the southern part of the illegally occupied West Bank.

Local sources said dozens of Israeli soldiers were deployed in the area, and prevented the Palestinians from reaching it, while enabling the illegal colonists to continue their offensive.

The invaded lands are in small hill area, known as Tallat al-Jomjoma, and is being targeted by the Israeli colonists who aim at establishing a new colonialist outpost dubbed as “Maale Halhoul.”

The area has been subject to frequent invasions and violations by the colonists as parts of their attempts to occupy and control it, but have been prevented from doing so by the native Palestinians, and sometimes by the Israeli authorities, especially when, nearly a year ago, the colonists installed a tent that was later removed.

However, amidst the illegal Annexation plans of the right-wing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and his extremist government collation, in addition to the support he is receiving from the U.S. President, D. Trump, especially the so-called “Deal of the Century” apartheid plan, the colonists as well as the Israeli government have been escalating their serious violations, including Netanyahu’s plan to annex the Jordan Valley of the occupied West Bank, in direct violation of International Law.

Hijazi Mer’eb, the Mayor of Halhoul, stated that the colonists have been trying to occupy Tallat al-Jomjoma for many years now to establish a new illegal colony.

Mer’eb added that the Palestinians will resist the illegal Israeli attempts and measures, and will not allow the theft of their lands to continue.

All of Israeli colonies, including those in and around of occupied East Jerusalem, are illegal under International Law, various United Nations and Security Council resolutions, in addition to many international treaties, in addition to the Fourth Geneva Convention to which Israel is a signatory and a constant violator.

Israeli soldiers closed, on Wednesday at night, two main permanent military roadblocks in the occupied West Bank, blocking vital Palestinian traffic and isolating vast West Bank areas, without providing any explanation.

Media sources said the soldiers sealed the Container roadblock, northeast of Bethlehem and east of occupied East Jerusalem, which links the southern parts of the West Bank with its northern parts, and prevented all Palestinian traffic.

The soldiers also closed the Qalandia Terminal, north of Jerusalem and south of the central West Bank city of Ramallah.

Although the Israeli army never officially stated the reason behind the closure, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated several weeks ago that he intends to implement the illegal American-supported Annexation Plan of the large areas of the illegally occupied West Bank at the beginning of July.

Amnesty International: Israel’s annexation plans are unlawful and must be stopped

A demonstrator holding a Palestinian flag stands amongst Israeli border police members during a protest against Israeli settlements and the U.S. President Donald Trump’s Middle East peace plan, in Jordan Valley in the Israeli-occupied West Bank February 25, 2020

Occupied Palestine (QNN)- Amnesty International demanded to stop the Israeli plans to annex parts of the West Bank and the Jordan Valley, calling the Israeli step “unlawful”.

“The Israeli authorities must immediately abandon plans to further annex parts of the occupied West Bank to Israel which violates international laws and exacerbate decades of systematic human rights violations against Palestinians there”, Amnesty International said.

The International human rights watchdog also called on the international community to stand against the annexation plan and illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied territories.

“International law is crystal clear on this matter, so annexation is unfair”, Saleh Higazi, deputy regional director for Amnesty Middle East and North Africa pointed out. “Israel’s continued pursuit of this policy further illustrates its cynical disregard for international law. Such policies do not change the legal status of the territory under international law and its inhabitants as occupied nor remove Israel’s responsibilities as the occupying power rather it points to the ‘law of the jungle’ which should not have a place in our world today”.

The occupation state announced it will annex over 30% of the occupied West Bank, including Israeli illegal settlements and Jordan Valley, which could begin as of 1 July.

The annexation is the acquisition of territory by force, and it is considered a clear violation of international law, making the Israeli step a violation of the United Nations Charter.

The prohibition on the acquisition of territory by force is enshrined as a fundamental principle in Article 2(4) of the UN Charter.

Since 1967, the occupation state has been continuously expanding illegal settlements in the West Bank and Jerusalem and establishing new ones but Trump’s plan and the subsequent annexation aims at legalizing the occupation of what is left of historic Palestine.

Amnesty also called on governments to reject Trump’s plan and offer their full political and practical support to the International Criminal Court (ICC) as it decides on its jurisdiction over the Palestinian cause.
