PLO official warns of Israeli plan to annex parts of West Bank

RAMALLAH, PALESTINOW.COM – Ahmad Majdalani, Member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and Minister of Social Affairs, said today he was concerned over reports of an impending Israeli annexation of parts of the occupied West Bank, at a time the entire world is busy with the coronavirus pandemic.

“Uncovered reports that Washington and Tel Aviv are about to agree on the maps of annexation [of parts of the West Bank] – at a time the world is preoccupied with the war on coronavirus – falls within the framework of the US plan to implement the “deal of the century”, Majdalani said in a statement. According to the Palestinian news agency WAFA.

He said the areas to be annexed under the leaked plan include the Jordan Valley and the north part of the Dead Sea, in addition to implementing the E1 plan aimed at expediting settlement construction east of Jerusalem.

The PLO official stressed that the US-Israeli plan undermines the basic principles of the Palestinian-Israeli peace process and the resolutions of the international community, calling on the latter to compel Israel to abide by these resolutions.

“This plan, drawn with maps by the teams of the Israeli occupation and the Trump administration, is the actual implementation of the “deal of the century”, which means an end to the two-state solution.”
