Photojournalist Akram Shbeir was among up to 20 people wounded in besieged Gaza Strip late on Saturday when he was working to capture night-time protests by the local youths ‘Night Confusion Units’.
Shbeir was wounded in a leg by a bullet according to an article – although photographs imply that he would have been shot in both legs – during his coverage of the youths’ confrontation with Israel’s occupying forces east of Khan Younis in southern part of the coastal enclave.
Most of the wounded, 15 people, were injured east of Jabalia refugee camp.
Beyond live ammunition Israeli occupation made likely one and possibly two missile strikes with a drone against youths. Shrapnel from one missile attack is claimed to have wounded two people ‘moderately’ near Jabalia refugee camp according to one news report; two other sources report an air-strike vaguely in the same area which would not have wounded anyone – we assume it’s the same incident in all reports.
