Israel’s Transportation and Intelligence Minister has announced that he is seeking to have Shaikh Raed Salah deported, Safa reported on Sunday. “I spent 15 years trying to delegitimise Shaikh Raed Salah,” wrote Ysirael Katz on Twitter. “Today’s mission is to deport him out of the borders of Israel.”

Katz apparently said that the leading “Israeli-Arab” activist should be deported to Lebanon or the occupied Gaza Strip, which has been under an Israeli siege for 11 years.

Shaikh Raed has survived several Israeli assassination attempts and has been imprisoned by the occupation authorities a number of times. He has also been banned from Al-Aqsa Mosque on a few occasions. The head of the northern branch of the Islamic Movement in Israel is known as “Shaikh of Al-Aqsa” for his commitment to protecting the Noble Sanctuary from Israel’s aggressive Judaisation programme.
