Palestinians in besieged Gaza awaiting 3rd freedom flotilla

Palestijnen wachten op Flotilla 3

The Gaza Strip, home to one-point-eight million Palestinians, is anxiously awaiting the arrival of the third freedom flotilla. The convoy of boats has already set sail to break the Israeli naval blockade on the Gaza Strip despite one of the boats being damaged in Greece by saboteurs on Thursday. The Palestinian coastal territory has been under a tight land, air, and naval blockade since 2007.

[Bukhari]

Breaking News: Victory for Khader Adnan; to be released 12 July

Khader Adnan, Palestinian political prisoner and long-term hunger striker, has achieved victory for the second time via hunger strike; in the early morning of 29 June, after 55 days of hunger strike in protest of his administrative detention without charge or trial, Adnan’s wife Randa announced that an agreement has been reached with his Israeli captors to release him on 12 July. She also stated that there is a commitment to end the use of administrative detention – under which Adnan has been held for over 6 years through multiple imprisonments – against Adnan.

Khader Adnan, 37, a baker from Jenin and a political activist, was also released from Israeli administrative detention without charge or trial in 2012 after a 67-day hunger strike that sparked widespread international and Palestinian support and helped to revitalize the broad movement for Palestinian prisoners’ freedom. Released on 17 April 2012, he was re-arrested on 8 July 2014 and had been held since then without charge or trial. He launched his hunger strike on 5 May to protest the renewal of his administrative detention and had reached a critical health stage.

Randa and Adnan’s children and parents visited Adnan in Assaf Harofeh hospital, where he is being held, chained hand and foot to his hospital bed, following the announcement of the agreement.

By Jafar M Ramini

Jafar Ramini

They came uninvited. The Zionist zealots arrived on our shores with the Bible in one hand and a machine gun in the other. They declared, “this is our land, promised to us by our God and you, the Palestinians, have no place in it.”
The inevitable consequence of this pre-meditated act of land theft, genocide and ethnic cleansing was the creation of one of the biggest and oldest refugee problems the world has ever known. One out of every three refugees in the world is a Palestinian.  With no place to call home and denied every possible human and civil right the Palestinian refugees and their descendents have been languishing in refugee camps ever since in Jordan, Syria, Lebanon and also the West Bank and Gaza.
Yet, back in 1948, sixty seven years ago, when Israel was given its birth certificate by the UN which was received with fanfare and jubilation there was another UN resolution which reaffirmed the right of return of all Palestinian refugees who wished to do so.  UN resolution 194 clearly states, and I quote:
“Refugees wishing to return to their homes and live at peace with their neighbours should be permitted to do so at the earliest practicable date, and that compensation should be paid for the property of those choosing not to return and for loss of or damage to property which, under principles of international law or equity, should be made good by the Governments or authorities responsible.”
Resolution 194 and many others since have been totally ignored by Israel with the tacit approval, if not the encouragement, of its allies in the West This has become a habit of the Israelis.  They take, from the international community what suits their murderous intentions and ignore what they deem to be detrimental to their plans.
Remember the Balfour Declaration of 1917 where it all started.  Lord Balfour, a Zionist English lord, with no deeds or right to Palestine nevertheless gifted it to another Zionist English Lord, Lord Rothschild.
The declaration reads:
“His Majesty’s Government views with favour the establishment in Palestine a homeland for the Jews ….it being clearly understood that nothing shall be done which may prejudice the civil and religious rights of the existing non-Jewish communities living in Palestine.”
They took the promise with relish and they dumped the proviso in the dustbin of history. This is how Jewish historian; Avi Schlaim described the Balfour Declaration.

“Britain had no moral or political or legal right to promise the land that belonged to the Arabs to another people. The Balfour Declaration was both immoral and illegal.”
Another Jewish historian, Ilan Pappé in his book, “The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine” put it this way.  “The Zionists wanted Palestine, all of Palestine, preferably with no Palestinians in it.”
There is no doubt that the Zionists came to Palestine with one aim in mind. To steal the land. To achieve that they had to demonise the rightful owners and remove them copletely.
The proof is there for all to see, over and over and over again. From Theodor Herzl to Ayelet Shaked.
Theodore Herzl, founder of the World Zionist Organization, speaking of the Arabs of Palestine, Complete Diaries, June 12, 1895.
“Spirit the penniless population across the frontier by denying it employment… Both the process of expropriation and the removal of the poor must be carried out discreetly and circumspectly.”
Chaim Weizmann, ‘Judische Rundschau’ No. 4 1920.
“We wlll establish ourselves in Palestine whether you like it or not. You can hasten our arrival or you can equally retard it. It is, however, better for you to help us so as to avoid our constructive powers turning into destructive power which will over-throw the world.”
Vladimir Jabotinsky. ‘The Iron Wall’, 1923.
“A voluntary reconciliation with the Arabs is out of the question.  Either now or in the future.
David Ben Gurion, future Prime Minister of Israel, 1937, Ben Gurion and the Palestine Arabs, Oxford University Press, 1985.
“We must expel Arabs and take their places.”
Joseph Weitz, Head of the Jewish Agency’s Colonisation Department. 1940 from ‘A Solution To The Refugee Problem.’
“Between ourselves it must be clear that there is no room for both peoples together in this country. We shall not achieve our goal if the Arabs are in this small country. There is no other way than to transfer the Arabs to neighbouring countries.  All of them.  Not one village, not one tribe should be left.”
David Ben Gurion, 1948
“We must do everything to ensure they (the Palestinians) never do return.” Assuring his fellow Zionists that Palestinians would never come back to their homes, “The old will die and the young will forget.”
Golda Meir Israeli Prime Minister June 15, 1969, The Sunday times.
“There was no such thing as Palestinians, they never existed.”
Yoram Bar Porath, ‘Yediot Aa Hronot’ 14 July 1972.
“It is the duty of Israeli leaders to explain to public opinion, clearly and courageously a certain number of facts that are forgotten with time. The first of these is that there is no Zionism, colonization or Jewish State without the eviction of the Arabs and the expropriation of their lands.”
Israel Koenig, author of The Koenig Memorandum. April 1976
“We must use terror, assassination, intimidation, land confiscation and the cutting of all social services to rid the Galilee of its Arab population.”
Raphael Eitan, Chief of Staff of the Israeli Defence Forces, New York Times, 14 April 1983.
“We declare openly that the Arabs have no right to settle on even one centimetre of Eretz Israel…force is all they do or ever will understand. We shall use the ultimate force until the Palestinians come crawing to us on all fours. When we have settled the land, all the Arabs will be able to do about it will be to scurry around like drugged cockroaches in a bottle”.
Chairman Heilbrun of the Committee of the Election of Dr. Schlomo Lahat, the Mayor of Tel Aviv, 1983.
“We have to kill all the Palestinians unless they are resigned to live here as slaves.”
Yitzak Shamir, Israeli Prime Minister (at the time) in a speech to Jewish settlers New York Times April 1, 1988
“The Palestinians” would be crushed like grasshoppers … heads smashed against the boulders and walls.”
Ayelet Shaked. Israeli Minister of Justice 2015.“They (The Palestinians) are all our enemies and their blood should be on our hands. This also applies to the mothers.”
Having read the above, is there anybody at all who could possibly believe that the lawful and legitimate right of return for Palestinian refugees will ever be achieved without further bloodshed and war?  Only when the entire western world finds its moral compass perhaps there is hope.

Ahmad Sa’adat transferred to Nafha prison; demands release of “secret evidence”

Ahmad Sa’adat, Palestinian leader, General Secretary of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, and political prisoner held in Israeli jails, has been transferred to Nafha prison; he has been transferred repeatedly during his imprisonment, the last time to Gilboa prison in early May.

In protest of his transfer, Palestinian prisoners at Gilboa prison rejected their meals for a day. In addition, on 23 June, an Israeli court in Nazareth is considering the petition filed on Sa’adat’s behalf, demanding the exclusion or disclosure of so-called “secret evidence” that has been used to ban Sa’adat from family visits with his wife and children.

Sa’adat announced that he is waiting 45 days for the court’s ruling and disclosure of the secret materials, stating that if this does not happen, Sa’adat will petition the Supreme Court and launch a hunger strike demanding an end to the denial of family visits. Sa’adat has been denied family visits by Israeli military order since 14 September 2014.

WikiLeaks founder: Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkey had secret deal in 2012 to topple Syrian government

Moscow, SANA – WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange said that leaked documents from Saudi ministries show that Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkey had a secret deal in 2012 to topple the Syrian government.

In an interview given to Rossiya-1 (Russia 1) TV channel published on Sunday, Assange said that the United States, France, and Britain had been involved in that deal, noting that the documents show an increasing degree of autonomy among the allies of the U.S. in the region, with these allies acting in a more aggressive manner and even going against the directives of the U.S. in some instances, despite the fact that in the past, Saudi Arabia had been considered a loyal servant of the U.S. in the Middle East.

WikiLeaks had begun releasing around half a million official Saudi documents and cables, including classified correspondence between Saudi Embassies and the Saudi Foriegn Ministries, in addition to Interior Ministry and General Intelligence Agency documents and reports.

Israeli naval forces prepare to intercept Gaza flotilla

Activists set sail on June 26, 2015 from the port of Elounda in a bid to break Israel’s blockade of Gaza

BETHLEHEM (Ma’an) — Israeli naval forces are preparing to intercept the Gaza-bound Freedom Flotilla III which is expected to arrive in Gaza on Monday, Israeli media reported Sunday. The Hebrew-language news source reported that Israel’s navy will deploy the “Shayetet 13” naval special forces unit onto the ships if necessary, and if activists on the ships “were violent.”Activists on board the flotilla sailing towards Gaza to challenge Israel’s blockade of the strip are quickly nearing their destination but expect to be intercepted, an Israeli television journalist with them reported late Sunday.”We have been at sea for three days and we are at a distance of no more than 200 kilometers (125 miles) from the Gaza Strip,” Channel Two’s Ohad Hemo said in a broadcast from the deck of the Swedish-flagged Marianne of Gothenburg.”It’s not clear when we’ll arrive. Will we wait for the other three boats that are behind us or try to break through to the Gaza Strip first,” Hemo reported. An Israeli army spokesperson told Ma’an they weren’t able to elaborate on possible preparations being taken by the Israeli naval forces in anticipation for the flotilla’s arrival. The Freedom Flotilla is the third of its kind to attempt to break the nearly nine-year Israeli blockade of Gaza that has left its 1.8 million residents in what rights organizations have termed a humanitarian crisis. In May 2010, Israeli forces staged a raid on a six-ship flotilla which ended in bloodshed, claiming the lives of 10 Turkish rights activists.UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said last week he believed “a flotilla will not help to address the dire situation in Gaza,” but reiterated his call on Israel to “lift all closures, with due consideration of Israel’s legitimate security concerns.”The first of four vessels from the Freedom Flotilla III set sail for Gaza from the Greek island of Crete overnight Thursday of last week, carrying 70 rights activists, journalists and politicians, together with a cargo of humanitarian aid, solar panels, and medical aid.The crew includes Palestinian member of Israeli parliament Basel Ghattas, Tunisia’s former president Moncef Marzouki and at least one European lawmaker.Hemo said that the passengers on the vessel get twice daily briefings from the organizers on non-violent resistance to the Israeli commandos they expect to board the boat sooner or later.”We have seen on the sonar an unidentified vessel following us at a distance of about 20 (nautical) miles and the assumption is that it is an (Israeli) naval ship,” he said.”It is clear to everyone that commandos will board somewhere before entry to Gaza,” he added. The Israeli government on Sunday published a letter which will be handed to flotilla participants once they are in Israeli hands.”If and when they reach Israel they will get a nice letter,” foreign ministry spokesman Emmanuel Nahshon told AFP.”Welcome to Israel!” said a Hebrew-language text of the message seen by AFP which will be given to the activists in English.”It looks as if you lost your way,” it continues.”Perhaps you intended to sail to a place not far from here; Syria where (President Bashar) Assad’s regime is every day massacring his people, supported by Iran’s murderous regime.”
