BETHLEHEM (Ma’an) — A group of Palestinian factions is calling for a recount of votes from Saturday’s local elections in Bethlehem, the five parties said Friday.
The Popular and Democratic Fronts for the Liberation of Palestine, the Palestine People’s Party, the Palestinian National Initiative and the Abu Nidal Organization are signing the challenge.
The groups said the election process was not conducted in a transparent way in Bethlehem, and they accused the Central Elections Commission of extending the nomination period later than planned.
They also said that in Bethlehem the counting process was in violation of elections law.
The factions called on the Palestinian Authority to recount the votes in accordance with the law.
