“There are plans in the West and regional countries that are satellites of the West to distance [Muslim] people’s attention from the issue of Palestine under conditions of the Islamic Awaking,” said Ali Larijani on the sidelines of International Quds Day demonstrations in the city of Qom on Friday.
He added that people’s massive turnout on the Quds Day will help redirect Muslims’ attention to the issue of Palestine.
“Quds Day is not specific to Palestine, but concerns all Muslims and the entire Islamic world,” Larijani said.
The Iranian parliamentarian then warned Israel’s allies in the Middle East, noting, “The Middle East countries should know that if the usurper Zionist regime [of Israel] achieves its goals, it will not leave any of them alone.”
In August 1979, late Founder of the Islamic Republic Grand Ayatollah Rouhollah Khomeini declared the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan as the Quds day and called on Muslims across the world to mark the annual occasion by holding street rallies.
Millions of people around the world pour into the streets on this day in a show of support for the people of Palestine, and to call for an end to Israel’s occupation of the Palestinian territories.
