On Palestine Land Day thousands of people across the world will join the Global March to Jerusalem. Join War on Want and others outside the Israeli Embassy in London at 5pm on 30 March to demand freedom for Jerusalem, and an end to Israel’s policies of Apartheid and ethnic cleansing.
The organisers of the Global march to Jerusalem are demanding an end to the Israeli occupation of Jerusalem and Palestinian land. The situation in Jerusalem is reaching tipping point. Silwan, a district of East Jerusalem, is facing the mass eviction of over 1,000 Palestinian residents in order to make way for a theme park. This watershed moment represents the biggest mass evictions since 1967.
War on Want has added its name to a host of UK civil society organisations, including Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC), Stop the War, and the British Muslim Initiative (BMI) who are supporting the global march. The march’s organisers explain their aims:
“The march will unite the efforts of Palestinians, Arabs, Muslims, Christians, Jews, and all citizens of conscience in the world to put an end to Israel’s disregard for international law through the continuing occupation ofJerusalem and the rest of Palestinian land.”
“We aim to make this march a turning point in the nature of the confrontation, with the occupation having to face millions of protesters and demonstrators demanding Freedom for Palestine and its capital Jerusalem.”
