Minister: World Bank pledges $76 million to PA

World Bank officials discuss cooperation at the Ministry of Planning in Ramallah.

RAMALLAH (Ma’an) –The World Bank on Thursday pledged to grant $76 million to the Palestinian Authority in 2012, the PA Minister of Planning said.

Ali Jerbawi announced the grant after an annual meeting with World Bank country director for the West Bank and Gaza Mariam Sherman.

The officials discussed the World Bank’s development projects and proposals for the coming years, Jerbawi said.

The minister thanked the international agency for its positive contributions to the PA.

He stressed the importance of communication with international donors to ensure the compatibility of aid programs with national goals and priorities.

The World Bank funds a number of health, education, social protection and local governance projects in Gaza and the West Bank.
